Roger, thanks for putting the link in (a picture is better then a 1000 words) and confirming my instructions russ
Kenny, good to see you are recording and composing more (fun aint it) russ
Lieven, the chord pictured in the link Roger provided IS the chord you will need to hook up from your Boss-br600 left and right "OUT" to your MICROPHONE INPUT on the back of your computer all you need then is to get the AUDACITY program on your computer and download the AUDACITY TUTORIALS from my mediafire link at the bottom of this post and it you decide to download "GOOGLE TALK" and put in the email addresses and request these people to join you on "Google talk" as Kap said you can talk to them in real time and get step by step instructions live as you hook up your recorder to your computer so there will be no mistakes and remember to download the tutorials they can explain how to use the Audacity program and finely get your songs from your recorder as mp3's to upload so we all can hear them so its up to you now Lieven.Russell

I think roger is correct dont mark both boxes just "play other tracks" and use the headphones and turn the speaker volume down so you will hear the other tracks and what your doing at the same time in your headset and see how that works for you and if it dosent cure the problem try riddlers suggestion but I think it should be ok as long as the speakers are turnned down enough so they dont bleed through or just shut them off till your done recording tracks and then listen to it ![]()

Minor chords will do that to you evoke emotions, major chords have the opposite effect and the combination of both sell records
i love the minor chords.... Am being my favourite... i like the kinda 'sad' sound that it has.

Re: well.. i had a go...... (12 replies, posted in Recording)
When you recorded the first track did you enable playback of the tracks? its in the edit tab, click edit, scroll to preferences click on and make sure the two boxes on the left (playback of tracks) are checked that way you can hear what your recording in real time and when you add additional tracks you can sing or play and come in when you want so forget the headphones you will hear yourself in the speakers if you still have a problem let me know ok? ![]()
......at recording something, & it was absolutely pants! (rubbish!) I tried recording me playing 'love is all around'... I did 4 'layers'.... one of the into, picked,... then i did the strumming for the verses and choruses, then i did the lyrics. then added in some extra picking & ohhhhs & ahhhhhs.
But when it all came together, it was awful..! My timing was out by miles.
Back to the drawing board i guess...............

James great old blues style the lyrics are easy to sing and the chords are simple as they should be with this kind of song I just played over it and enjoyed it kind of feels like a Harry Conick (not sure how to spell his last name) song mellow and laid back to be sure nice job. Russ ![]()

I like all of them, no favorites I tend to stick with chords that are in my vocal range for composing but on instrumentals anything go's there are no restrictions ive even experimented with a G demolished augmented 13th ![]()

Lieven regarding your personal story everybody go's through there own personal hell and each one of us deals with it in our own way, some are able to let go and move on some are not but if it helps you to deal with this reality of the day to day struggle by venting your frustrations I can understand that, its better to let it out then conceal it and I pray some day you will find peace and discover the joy there is in living despite the hardships and pain because some are not as fortunate. Now with that out of the way
this pandora sounds like a combination of a drum machine and your boss effects patches I would like to have one myself but alas my horse(car) has eaten up all my spare savings by choosing last week to die
it would be merciful if I could just shoot it and put it out of its misery (and mine) but I need the transportation so any new purchases will have to wait because I had to shell out everything I had and get a loan from the bank to fix it but maybe there's one at the music store I can try out and then i will know more about it,regarding your last and most important problem: Getting your songs from your recorder to your computer! download the 1st and 2ND Audacity files from my mediafire site the link is at the bottom these videos will show you step by step how to connect your boss recorder to your computer without useing a flash card, this flash card is your problem! so bypass it and go direct to your computer from your boss BR- 600 useing the left and right "out" in the back of your recorder plug in a "Y" adapter chord you can buy one for less then $5.00 at any store that sells electronic equipment this chord has 2 RCA jacks on one end and a single 1/8 inch stereo plug on the other the two rca plugs go into your left and right "out" on your boss br-600 the single plug go's into your "microphone" input on the back of your computer you will need to download the Audacity program from sourceforge.net and another program called "lame"this program allows audacity to convert your songs to mp3's and then you can upload them to wherever you want, both of these are free programs the "lame"program can be obtained by just typing in "lame download" in your address bar and it comes in a zipped folder so if you don't have a unzipper on your computer you can get one free by typing in "winzip" but first download the audacity video tutorials and I think the new audacity 1.3.5 already has a lame program in it but all the tutorials I have on audacity are the older version of audacity but the hookup is the same if you still have problems connecting your recorder to your computer let me know because both Doug and Randy(riddler) and Scott(fatstrings)can answer anything I have missed and they are all equally qualified to help get you up and running so get going! ![]()

Topic: WHAT IS MUSIC? (24 replies, posted in Recording)
By definition: (Thorndyke and Barnhart Dictonary)
"The art of putting sounds together in arrangements-a pleasant sound-written or printed signs for music-recorded arrangements"also to "face the music" eg. meet trouble head on or answer for ones actions as in dance to the music. aside from the early grunting of cave man(which oddly resembles some of today's genres) music has always been with us from chants passed down from one generation to the next or written notes on paper, music has been preserved in one form or another for future generations and until Thomas Edison invented a crude form of recording on a cylinder there were piano rolls or music boxes that played if you wound them up.Music can lift your spirits or make you weep, angry, and like no other form of human expression music stands alone as the most powerful form of communicating ideas to the masses and expressing love and reverence so what are your thoughts on what music is? ![]()

Doug there is a instrumental catagory as well you may submit a musical arrangment without lyrics
Really having a hard time getting started with the lyrics, not having written anything poetic in like a couple of decades.

Re: Chordie and Wikipedia (31 replies, posted in About Chordie)
Per there was additional text added to this original text I posted and even a short version based on a conversation with Roger Guppy who recommended a brief description which I wrote down rote and I have searched the wiki for links to chordie and came up with several that are mentioned in conjunction with chopro, where I found a direct link to another chordie site domain and on my user page the discussion on the chordie forums still remains because I requested a hold on its swift deletion due to some unflattering information I dug up on the person who deleted it (this is war) this person indicated chordie had a "site comic" and I rebuked his statement by producing links to his user page on which he posed for a photo in front of a memorial dedicated to the fallen soldiers at iwo jima with a big smile on his face and stated it was in poor taste and disrespectful to the memory of the marines who were killed at iwo jima, this embarrassment put a stop to his further actions but other users joined in (there like coyotes at feeding time) so as it sits it is still possible to modify the attempt and re post another Chordie "candidate"for insertion into wiki.Russell
Chordie:the largest search engine for finding chords and lyrics on the Internet.
Founded October 2002 it has 200,000 members.Chordie is based around
the chopro file format that separates text and chords, this format is also used
by programs like chord (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/chord) separating chords
and lyrics makes it possible to transpose automatically and create graphical
chord grids for guitar, banjo, ukulele and mandoline.Chordie has the policy
of removing any songs the artist wants to remove the sites FAQ(chordie.com/faq.php)
states that no artist has ever requested that in addition Chordie hosts forums on
music theory, recording and reviews new software and musical equipment.(~~~~)

I practice daily as a habit and put a priority on up comming session songs, usually I just go over my reading skills to keep me sharp and work on my strumming trying out new rhythm accents as well as some lead guitar work I have a session on the 25th of this month so the two songs I am recording take presidence over all else I wrote a chart for them and reherarsed with the keyboard player who will be on the session with me so everything will go smooth and cut the cost of the studio time. ![]()
