Good work, Zurf! Best of luck getting to that final goal!
I'm quite pleased to have lost about 7lbs recently, mainly by cutting down on carbs. Also, trying not to eat anything after my main meal of the day at about 6pm. The excess weight I do still have is around my abdomen, though, which is the worst place, in health terms. Exercise, as in sit-ups/crunches would probably help, but I find these difficult with my back problems...

No interest myself, and not a Royalist, but my wife is glued to it. We are having a (very British) tea party later, as a joint celebration with our own 20th wedding anniversary.
Six hours is a lot of wedding. But cricket can go on for five days, and I love that...

Hope the recovery continues! These setbacks are so annoying - I have to do regular exercises for a back problem, but sometimes I overdo it and damage my back doing the exercises! Then it's all uphill again...
Just btw, I hear that adding a little fruit juice to water makes a very effective electrolyte drink, better than just water alone.

Yes, one of those good aches or pains. Like having a good (but tough) day's work, then sitting down knowing that you deserve that meal and a beer...

Zurf - thanks for the info. Will certainly try for Dulles if at all possible.
MKM - my wife just doesn't do camping, so it will just be me. Really hope you and hub can make it!

I'm with Zurf - let's make our own partay! I'm still in, I think - will now go and research flights. Apparently I should have booked last year for a "cheap" flight to Washington in July, but will see what is available...

Good on you, Deadstring! There are a lot of nursing/care homes within a few miles of where I live, so it's given me an idea to follow your lead. I would have to get together a few more popular songs - my repertoire is pretty eclectic! I also sing in a choir, so they may also be interested in doing something for the old folks...

I'm with Zurf - let's go and see Twangtown! Ahh, what the heck, Whitewater too. I like the cut of cj-5's jib as well...

Well, thanks to some excellent work on the home front by a gent named Zurf, there is a chance that I can make this event! It would be great to meet as many Chordians as possible. Amy, you've got to come now!!
Am keeping it quiet on the Facebook front, just for now...
Cheers all!

Well, I am seriously tempted to hop on a plane for this, sounds great! I love guitar playing & fishing & would like to try some paddling too. Also feel that it's time to do something a bit different, even adventurous (for me)!
Just so I can start researching flights, what airport should I head for? Obviously, I couldn't bring much stuff with me, so am hoping I could borrow/share camping gear?
Oh, and please don't mention anything on Facebook yet, if you know me there!
Cheers!

Well done, Wayne, sounds like a great evening!
I was playing a local open-mic quite regularly, and really thought I had turned a corner with my playing & singing - I suddenly felt much more relaxed and confident on stage. But the last couple of times there were some brilliant performers, and I had to wait quite a while to play. And when my turn came I made a few mistakes! So, it was a bit of a setback. But however bad I feel sometimes, I know that most people would give their eye teeth to be able to play an instrument & sing, even to my standard!
Cheers!

What a great Christmas present - seems like it really hit the spot! Have tried to get my son interested in the guitar, but he much prefers to horribly slaughter things on his Xbox. But, I have now bought him a uke - as I already have one, I am hoping we can learn together. Worth a try, anyhow...
Cheers!
