Ed    This is nothing short of fantastic !   Luckily the line about your "sister not gettin' it" made me laugh, otherwise I had tears in my eyes. I hope she hd a good sense of humor! )The lyrics paint such a vivid picture that if I close my eyes I can easily envision every scene. This has the quality that could easily be on the radio. Your guitar work and voice are spectacular.     I really enjoyed this one !  Congrats on a super cool song and a great performance.

If the adult beverages really have anything to do with the quality of singing and playing, well then I need to drink about  case of beer and a fifth of whiskey to sound good !! smile

Jeff

My bad days usually include
unnoticed stain on clothes until I get to work
forgot my glasses, phone, keys or wallet
stepped in dog poop
battery is dead in car
out of coffee
car broke down
internet is down
paper cut on end of a finger
keys locked inside car
guitar string breaks

you are right   this list could be of epic proportion !

Loved it !

I think the songmaybe .....
If You're Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows)
Rodney Atkins
Well you know those times
When you feel like there's a sign there on your back
Says I don't mind if ya kick me
Seems like everybody has
Things go from bad to worse
You'd think they can't get worse than that
And then they do
You step off the straight and narrow
And you don't know where you are
Use the needle of your compass
To sew up your broken heart
Ask directions from a genie
In a bottle of Jim Beam
And she lies to you
That's when you learn the truth
If you're going through Hell
Keep on going, don't slow down
If you're scared, don't show it
You might get out
Before the devil even knows you're there

Reckless Mind & Rebel Heart by Jim Kenyon

Verse 1

.

[G]She was more wolf than a [C]woman

A wild [G]soul, but that ain’t[D] wrong

I [G]didn’t want to try to [C]tame her

Just [G]wanted her to [D]take me a[G]long

. Verse 2

.

[G]She's a little bit like [C]heaven

joyful [G] gypsy dancing with the [D]stars

like [G]wind moves through wild[C]flowers

a [G]reckless mind with a [D]rebel [G]heart

.

Chorus

[C]Falling in love was far too risky

see she [G]couldn’t be tied down

a free [C]soul never lookin' back

She had [D]no reason to stick around

[C]She had a world that couldn’t wait

So she [G]drifted from place to place

Oh, her[C] heart just wasn’t in it, and

I had [D]nothing to make her stay

.

Verse 3

[G]A fire burning [C]oh so bright

But [G] cool as a summer [D]rain

With her [G]spirit running [C]ever free

she’s [G]a dream that you [D]can’t ex[G]plain

Chorus

[C]Falling in love was far too risky

see she [G]couldn’t be tied down

a free [C]soul never lookin' back

She had [D]no reason to stick around

[C]She had a world that couldn’t wait

So she [G]drifted from place to place

Oh, her[C] heart just wasn’t in it, and

I had [D]nothing to make her stay

Repeat verse 2

.

[G]She's a little bit like [C]heaven

joyful [G] gypsy dancing with the [D]stars

like [G]wind moves through wild[C]flowers

a [G]reckless mind with a [D]rebel [G]heart

just a [G]reckless mind with a [D]rebel [G]heart

She's a [G]reckless mind with a [D]rebel [G]heart

I would guess it is a black widow spider.

Very mysterious song - made by simple lyrics.

Very clever Phill !  but is it more clever than your granddaughter - i think not - she is asking all the right questions !!

Looking forward to the recording

Give my best to Ann

Russell - that sounds great ! It appears that you are really into it and very satisfied.
I think you have already gotten your money's worth just in that video.  Awesome!

Can you record with that system ? ( as in add lyrics - singing as you play ?

Beamer

I 'm thinking this is a man that is in deep trouble, and realizes he needs help - not only in making through the impending trouble of the moment, but in his life as well. Kind of - "Please let have an hour and don't let me die, if I make it I'm gonna make significant changes".

As a writer - b/c I'm not much of  a musician, and I know absolutely how punk rock works - I think I would suggest a change that in the  last line from acclimate to " before it's too late"    but hey, it's your song.

Nice work

Nice one Mojo - ditto to all of the above !
Do you still have that painting. If not, it would quite a project to hunt it down.

You always come through with songs that have such imagery, and also always attach inceredible emotion or passion.  Very heartfelt.

JIm

He has a bunch of great songs.  Just add him to the list of way too many great musicians that have passed lately.

Brian
I like the guitar work - great picking.
It was a little difficult for me to hear some of the lyrics though. Can you post them.
Jim

DE   That is a great story and great recovery !!

I was trying to look at it on line but all i get is the 18 fret version.

Looks beautiful just the same !!

Congrats and welcome back - great to hear from you

Mojo

I actually thought it was metaphorically written about trying to revive an old relationship.
JIm

My songbooks are back and I hope we all learn the lesson to down load our songs and print them just in case next time it's worse !

I'm chalkin' it up to   "Covid - 20"    smile

Yes so sad

His Dad Mel Crosby refereed many of my HS Basketball games. He live 18 miles from my house.

Thanks Graham

I just finished re working it a bit to make the lyrics fit better.

I think it is about as good as I'm able to do.

Feel free to take a shot at it - make any changes that you think it needs.
As you and all on chordie know, I'm a writer not a musician.
.

Thanks for the kind words

Jim
