Nice one Peatle. The old saying "too cool for school" isn't used much anymore, maybe in a couple of months? Bojo (Boris Johnson) says English kids can go back to school in July. The Welsh senedd is far more cautious and said not until September which makes our Welsh and Scottish politicians more in tune with what's going on. They've even stopped English day trippers crossing the boarder!
And we're back in the room....you have a wonderful way of taking everyday conversation and making great literature and songs from it. Iechyd dda. Kia ora. Stay safe

IMHO, it's the best feeling in the world playing with a live band. you did a great job here. is that a Cry Baby? i used to have one but traded it for a mini monitor, worst trade i ever made and i've done some bad ones.

Hi Jim. There is loss of tone when you turn the big guys down so use sustain or a little distortion to get the sound "meaty" there are other terms I could use but this isn't Facebook lol.
On my previous post I meant to write amp and cab!
One of the first gigs I played with a band I used a Marshall 50 watt amp with two cabs. The other guitarist used a Vox A.C. 30 and completely drowned me out, and I was stood right Infront of my rig!!!

Re: Is a 15w amp too loud for home practice? (22 replies, posted in Electric)
welcome to chordie brownhill. i once had a vox 50 watt combo. i also played once through a 100 watt vox cab and speaker, i made a bit of a mess in my pants if you get my meaning?
vox amps used to have around twice the output of the face value , so 15 = 30 watts, 30 = 60 etc. i find small amps are not value for money, if you're playing in a bedroom, yes, but if you want to say jam with some mates in a bigger room your sound will be lost. you can always turn down a big amp but you cant turn up a small amp.

yeah, led by a load of lords and generals that bought their commissions. there was a time when kings and generals had to prove themselves by leading their troops into battle. william the conqueror gave land and privileges to his knights that distinguished themselves at hastings which they handed down to their sons and so on until we come to the chinless wonders that sat miles away from the action sending brave men into suicidal charges. how the dickens did the human race survive so long?

I am not sure of the greeting for Anzac Day though I have seen a lot about their bravery in the face of the enemy and the idiot generals that sent them into withering machine gun fire. Let us hope those days are gone forever.

Peatle. As a follow on, every Thursday evening at 8pm loads of people all over the UK stand at their doorsteps and applaud the invaluable and life threatening work they do. Last night I saw something I haven't seen for many years; after the clapping people, keeping to the two metre rule, stood and chatted with neighbours! This pandemic has brought out the spirit that got us through the blitz and the cold war. Let us hope the plonkers that have their fingers poised over the nuclear buttons aren't stupid enough to push them! HOPE

Hi Peatle.
you began by speaking of your defiance of the covid-19 virus then moved on to how your lands were invaded and your people slaughtered? I sincerely hope that my ancestors were not involved with that invasion?
A very moving and insightful piece of writing as I've come to expect from you. Hope will see us through this bad time.
Be safe my friend.

Thanks Peatle. My friend had been battling cancer for some years and bearing up to the treatments. Then suddenly one day he suffered a major heart attack and he was gone. His wife was devistated as were we all. Her friends and family gathered round and we gave him a good send off. This happened just before the outbreak so there was a good crowd at the funeral to say farewell. Funny I want to remember the good times but all that's coming is the emptiness.
Stay safe and well.

And to you my friend. I can't imagine writing an up beat song to such a down beat subject, I felt quite depressed myself when I was done, but Ann has this nack of bucking me up! No not a misspell! Lol
Returning to the original subject, I've lost several good friends in the last few years so I'm well aware of the emptiness one feels. I'm hoping not to lose anymore to this pandemic.
Stay safe my friend.

At this terrible time I know all our thoughts go out to the people that survive those that have succumbed to Coronavirus. So this song came to me and made me think how I'd cope if anything happened to Ann.

Also paintings, by kids, of unicorns. They're meant to thank and brighten up the lives of those that must work to keep us safe, or forced, isolationists alive. Big thank to our NHS, stay safe.

Very interesting Peatle, double tracking acapella!!! A great love song and Maree must be happy that you loudly declared your love for her so publicly to a world wide audience, if you hear anything whistling...duck! Our women love to hear us declare our love for them, but not before the world, it embarrasses them...lol
I'm afraid this self isolation thing maybe affecting Ann more than me, like you I'm happy to sit watching the TV or making music in my studio. Ann is more outgoing. She misses her/our social evenings, meeting friends or just shopping.
Stay safe, stay well.

Jim...here am I sitting in my studio/study/writing room/music room/computer room/junk room laughing my socks off at the last line of your new verse for Pawnee Creek. Ann who was watching her programmes came in to see what amused me so.
I'd love to hear Russ perform it, with the mandolin of course...

Grah, I used to have a book of Goon show scripts which me and some pals used to perform in my front room, we were always hysterical laughing especially when we tried to imitate the voices.
Peatle. Ann and me have gone into isolation too and they tell us it could be up to 3 months!!! And there's still people heading to the beaches (as we're having some good weather) and climbing Snowdon. They are told not to congregate and to keep a 2 metre space between them yet they're shoulder to shoulder on trains and stuff. My kids knock the door and leave us food parcels, I'm not sure if they're scared of giving us the bug or getting it from us...
