Fonzie says...........Eh-h-h-h

My home town of London Ontario Canada over the past few years has started a program to  promote tourism and beautify the core and surrounding area of the city (population 360,000).I think it is really a cool thing they are doing.
London's known as the "Forest City" ,we have many big old trees in the core and area that are dying or past their prime and need to be cut down.
Instead of cutting them down they have combined forces with Stihl (manufacturers of chainsaws) and area artists. They leave 10-15 feet of the trunk left to do their "Tree Carvings" and their work is beautiful.Left out in the public for all to enjoy.
Why take down the whole tree if you don't have to.
Enclosed link to pics of most of the carvings which will grow every year.
My favorite is one that is not listed.I believe the family that had it done had lost their young daughter and it is a memorial to
her.I will take a pic of it and post it if anyone is interested.
An interesting project for any city.
Click on the pics for a larger image.
Enjoy smile

Hi Ken,
I've been to your site a few times and I have noticed those comments and have just shook my head in disbelief. Then I started to look at other sites and found that there are rude people all over the net. I can picture them hunched over their computer, patting themselves on the back and snickering for a post well done. They have small minds with no sense of imagination if you ask me.
To all Chordies posting on Youtube...Have fun, keep at it and post your links here so your friends can have a listen. smile

Hey alvee33, Thanks for the post. That is the first time I've heard that song and I really enjoyed the listen. Good for you for the post and great job on it. smile Looking forwards to more

My turn to post a song that I'm looking for some help on completing. The song is Blacktree Road.I posted it a ways back and I have done a re-write on it. I don't plan to finish it till early 09 as Christmas is way too close. So no hurry here as there are other projects on the go also. smile What I'm looking for is a drummer, lead guitar,piano/keyboard and most importantly back up singers that are willing to try harmonizing. It doesn't matter what key you sing in,male, female, young or old.I will do up a rough track before Christmas with all instruments included.(mind you they will be sloppy but it will get the song across)In the rough track I will harmonize to where I would like the harmony.Send me back your tracks with the harmony and/or instruments and between them all I think we can come up with a kick^*& song.

If you don't know how to do a track there is no harm in asking....That's why we're here. smile

Anyone interested please Email me,my link is on the left.

Link to Blacktree Road is below

Hi David,

I'm no pro on this, but every every city government would have their own distinct set of rules applying to buskering.I would suggest contacting your city administration to give you the answer you are looking for.
Hope this helps. smile

Hi All,

Jerome,Thanks for your thoughts on doing this in a rap style. It would be interesting to hear as Roger says and I'm sure Old Doll would be tickled to hear it.Me......I'm glad you can't sing rap. smile

Roger, Thanks for your gracious comments. This was a real learning experience for me that I am grateful to be part of. smile

Marcalan, Thank You for your enthusiastic response. smile It is very satisfying to hear for me and I'm sure the other cohorts as well.As for a competition,I believe that should be left up to Lena as it is her words that inspired the project. Thanks Again smile

I could be wrong on this but I believe that if you put it up on Chordie that is a form of publishing that would go a long way in a court of law.It will cost money to defend even if you have a copyright. So you can't get any less expensive then this.
That's my take. I hope it helps
Kenny

PS  Should this topic be posted at Chordie Chat?

A gracious Your Welcome Helena.
Your words inspired the music or it never would have been written,so a big Thank You from across the pond. smile

Also a big Thank You to Phill, Tony and Russ.We gotta do this again. smile

This a link to a true story concerning one of the graves in the video.Watching the video it is the grave marked the Donnellys.Notice the pennies for good luck and the chips from souvenir hunters.
This family was from Tipperary Ireland and fueded with another family from Ireland. After moving to Canada in 1880 5 family members were massacred in Lucan 20 miles from where I live .There have been many storys about this and a TV show called the Black Donnellys  mirroring the family as they were known as the Black Donnellys.
Here is a link to their history
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Donn … lly_Family
Fascinating reading with many books.

Tons of info on all instruments, artists, tabs, lyrics, software etc.etc.
They also have buy and sell

It seems they have a lot of video  from youtube that shows what the product you are looking for looks and sounds like.Could be a handy tool for research.
Check it out

Just thought I'd drop in and say boo.

Here in Canada we also have no thirteenth floors on our tall buildings.I grew up understanding that it was because it was considered unlucky and never gave it a thought until I grew up,at which time I said to myself...stupid ...stupid...stupiddd.   Good choices of words Ken

If the thirteenth is so unlucky why isn't there a big rush to move in on the seventh or eleventh floor.Your closer to the ground in case of a fire... or whatever, you will have better odds at winning a lottery, you won't have to worry as much about broken mirrors or black cats,or...if your on Wall Street your guaranteed to be rich(never mind about the Wall Street one it doesn't matter what floor your on lol)  and the list goes on.
Bottom line....People are stupid(not all people, just people with money)

Hi Ken

I just visited your Youtube site and really enjoyed listening to what you have done. The "Soldier Story" especially. Thankfully that is behind us and we have moved on.

You should post the link to your site so the rest of the Chordies can enjoy it.

Thanks
Kenny smile

My first guitar was hollow and had six strings. That's all I can remember about it.The first guitar that I tried to play and promptly put out of tune was my step-dads Gibson Hummingbird.(behind his back)He played Country/Western in the local bars and treated his guitar with love and care.
I can now say in hindsight I should have asked him first. sad
The first guitar I bought was a Norman.I wish I could remember the model as it was a great guitar. The body was a dark brown wood with no finish.
Thanks for the memories,I'm gonna do search on my first guitar. smile
Kenny

As one dealing with tennitus and not wearing a hearing aid but am keenfully aware that my hearing is on the downward slide I thought I would jump in HEAR.
Hi Headcase..I hope your healing well.It is hard to say what is right for you.You can have your earpiece adjusted right but your stereo or computer or Ipod is not set up normally but you think it is. How do you know if you can't hear the real tone?If it is set up by young people, odds are the bass is turned wayyyy up. (that's not necessarily a bad thing)
For recording I think the point is being missed that when you are recording you want to be able to communicate to your listeners what it is you are hearing.
How can they hear what you are hearing in your mind when you can't hear the tones that are really there?
I agree with Alan on this one,for recording purposes, get the most accurate earpiece.
What you hear may not be what the listener is listening to.
Record with digital earpiece for better clarity of sound and remove it after if you wish.
Listen to your music for a truer sound and remove it after if you wish.
Wear it all day and remove it at night for a quite nights sleep if you wish.
And charlotte...thanks for the chuckle. lol I'll take the bad hearing thank you
I also agree with Russ cause the proofs in the pudding. smile You can write and mix.

That's my take...Sorry for rambling...Sorry what did you say. lol
