Dean Exotica. 100% junk. Looked real pretty( I  received tons of compliments on how pretty it looked) but the electronics seemed to be assembled and/or installed underwater. Worked for approximately 1 week then the problems began. Returned it 3 times then finally the music store felt my my frustation and gave me a full refund. Dean guitars need to put more emphasis on the inside of the guitars and less on the fancy paint jobs and glossy finishes, in my humble opinion.................

Ohhhh I had forgotten about Deans. I too had bad experiences with them. About 2 years ago I bought a Dean Traditon acoustic because of a deal ($100 figured it'd be an okay beater).  At least I thought it was a deal at the time... Got it home set it up changed strings and the tone was horrible. After a month the neck started twisting as well... I ended up using it as a learning tool for finishing and some other luthier work.   You'd think I'd learned my lesson on Dean acoustics from that, but about a year ago I was shopping for a cheap acoustic bass for campfire jamming and picked up a Dean Playmate bass... I had the same problem as Toney. The electronics where trash! The neck was no where near straight! It had humps here and there and buzzes everywhere else. Gave it to a friend, More like made him take it smile

We always talk about the best sounding or best value out there... I know that everyone has personal prefrences, but what is the most disappointing guitar you have bought or played? The one that you expected so much more from...

For me it was the Martin D18s. I've owned 2 of these and both were mediocre IMO... Maybe I had just heard so much hype that I expected too much, but they did not impress me. I have a '64 Martin baritone uke and love it but the guitars (D18 specifically)you can keep. Some of their other guitars are fine but most I find are overated/overpriced IMO... What's yours?

Thanks guys!! To be honest, I'm not really happy with it pesonally... sad But I keep reminding myself that I have a lot left to do and no time to really learn all the songs proper, get all the vids, or playing perfect smile Most of them I'll probably never play again anyway smile As long as it's good enough to be helpfull for beginners, That's all I'm after. Going to try to get several of these up tonite.   Just got through editing/correcting "Be Like That" by 3 Doors Down into chordpro and uploading patterns and video for it. Wonder how many I can finished before midnight or I pass out one?? smile  Oh well, Pop a top a start another wink-Pix

I was messing around with the webcam and shot this real quick to go with the songbook. I also added the patterns written out in the songs comments section.   This is only a rough vid... Only a webcam and it's cheap! I plan on using the home cam for the others as it's much clearer.  Here's the link to the chordie page as it will show in the songbook http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.r … lways& Just curious if everyone thinks this will suffice. Please keep in mind that I don't know or play most of the songs I'm doing vids for and am only working out rough basic patterns for them...

Don't know many clean ones but here's 1 my kids love!

A pirate and his crew are sailing the waters looking for vessels to lute, when they round a peninsula and see a naval ship approaching. The pirate captain yells for his mate to bring him his RED shirt! The 2 ships merge and a bloody battle commences. The pirates prevail!   The following week they round another bend and see another ship giving chase! The pirate again yells for his first mate to bring his RED shirt and the battle is on! After the battle, The mate approaches the pirate and asks  "Sir ,If I may, Why when we see a hostile ship do you ask for your RED shirt" The pirate replies, "If I get injured the crew won't notice the blood and loss heart, they will fight on to victory!!"   A month goes by and they come around another bend and the pirate and crew are faced with a fleet of 10 naval ships coming for justice!! The Pirate yells again for his first mate "Bring me my BROWN pants"  smile

"Lola"....Could be a good hint to an upcoming bad surprise that night smile

Well I've got 70 good easy songs in the book now! It's been a job with all the errors and lost tabs I've come across...  I'll post it public tomorrow evening! It won't have all the patterns for the songs and one or 2 may still need some editing/correcting but I think it'll be close enough. I can fine tune it and add more after it's public and I receive some feedback on it. Maybe some others that recommended songs can add a few patterns for their songs as well. I've also added a youtube channel titled Ultimate Beginners Songbook Patterns were I've been recording some quick strumming patterns and samples to post with the songs for a quick visual/audio reference. It's going to take awhile to get all these made and uploaded though, so It'll be a work in progress after the book is public. Time is getting scarce with the work schedule I've had lately. But I'm staying focused on it smile-Pix

I do believe those are in another room of the house, Micky wink

Things coming up will be straps, Electronic tuners, a set of new Gotoh 3+3 chrome machine heads and other odds and ends that I'll probably never use and need to clear out.... I'll put em in different threads through out the next couple of weeks and give them to whomever speaks first. Right now I'm still going through everything.. It's just a few little things that I don't want to bother putting on ebay. I'd rather some of the good people on Chordie get some use out of them! -Pix

Luck I guess...:) I don't remember having to do anything special. I searched/googled for animated gifs until I found one that fit the size requirements and used it. It worked from the start. I'll play around some with it this evening when I get home from work and see if I can figure something out for ya. I've used the avatar for so long, I really don't remember exactly how I did it. -Pix

I enjoyed that! I'll probably pick it up... Anyone know what kind of guitar that is?

This song really reminded me of another song.  I found it on youtube about a year and half or so ago and picked it up. Then ended up meeting him on a few forums shortly after. Great song (IMO) It's by Larry Garret http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJVNkiSEnnI He's a great guy. Some of you may know him as Missouri Picker if you ever visit the AGF... Though it's about remembering the old days, not forgetting them smile Takes be back a few years when I play it... Just thought ,If you enjoyed one, you may enjoy the other...-Pix

Now for "Song writing" how hard can it be?

I have the most trouble with songwriting. Don't know why? I have pages of lyrics in a book and several chord progressions with fill riffs, patterns, and such wrote down but putting them together is a different story. I find it works best for me if I just come up with the music and make the words up as I play it.  I thought it would be easy.... I wrote a lot in college, even had some short stories and poetry published, But songwriting has proven to be a challenge! I guess it's like anything else though, you just work and work on it and one day it will sort of fall into place...Right?? Maybe I'm just too critical of my own work, but my lyrics never really seem to express what I want to or in the depth that I intend. -Pix

It's nothing extravagant, but I have a nice tortoise shell style pickguard for a left handed acoustic. I have no use for it... So the first lefty that needs one or wants to change the look of their guitar, and speaks for it, can have it! I'll mail it right out to ya, Free of charge! Here's a pic of it held up to the light to show the color and pattern. It still has the adhesive backing and the plastic covering on it, so it will look much better once it's installed. It's quality...Not a cheapy.

Hey Stu, I did a quick search and read a little about what you've got and am sorry to say that I'm not familiar with the product or software... I'll read some more though and see if anything pops up... Just to cover the simple stuff, The battery in the pickup is good right? Does the guitar have an onboard preamp? I ask because some pickups without a preamp will work when plugged up to an amp because the amp provides enough power for the pickup. The usb power supply that you have may not provide enough power for it . So if your guitar doesn't have a built in preamp, you may need to run it through one prior to hooking up the interface. Just some thoughts... Best of luck! Maybe someone else can offer more advice.. -Pix

Congrats Man! There's nothing like the feeling of finding/thinking of a song and being able to play it from the get go. It gives you such a feeling of accomplishment! It makes all the long hours practicing and sore fingers worth it wink Bravo! -Pix

Well...It came in Wednesday and upon inspection it had a very light finish crack down the center.  It's only visible with the right light and angle.  The battery had been left in during shipping and it had came loose and bounced around inside the guitar during transit... I pulled off the strings and inspected the inside with a light and mirror and all the internal structure was fine. I believe the battery just happened to hit the right spot and caused the finish crack to appear. I'm going to add a cleat or 2 to insure the integrity of the glue joint, just incase.
The good news is that she is a keeper!! She plays and sounds wonderfully! I contacted the seller and they were more than understanding and I was offered compensation. They gave me a refund of $161, so I ended up with only $350 in it smile Not bad...
A quick pic of the center crack posted below.

Overall, I'm very happy with the outcome! The flaw doesn't bother me, I'm a player not a collector smile -Pix

I think these are so cool! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XD02oMH … r_embedded I just ordered the model in the vid. It's the Hugh Tracey Alto Kalimba with pickup. Can't wait to add it to some recordings! Maybe throw on some affects for some funky tunes smile Anybody out in chordie land play one? It's a south African instrument, but I think I'm going to try to mix it with an island/tropical sound...

How about Pink?? I think she does some awesome vocal work. Especially live... I don't really get into her music much but I have to give her props for her singing talent.

I pull for the Mets as well! I have every since I was on the Mets little league team when I was 13. I haven't followed it much since I got married but man I used to as a kid! Always pulled out the boxes of baseball cards and played along at home smile I still have several shoe boxes of baseball cards up in the attic... Maybe it's time to drag them down and pass them on to the kids..It might instill some intrest...They seem to have no love for any sports other than soccer?? Not that I don't like soccer but I have no idea who my kids got it from.. Wonder if I should ask the wife... Na, better not, She might tell me the truth I don't want to hear smile

I spend allot of my time on the web finding new artist and music to play... I found this site about 6 months ago and wanted to share it with you. http://www.music-map.com/ I love this! You punch in an artist that you like and it gives you a whole page of similiar artist. The ones that drift closest to your artist name are the closest matches. I have found so many good bands this way!!
You can also hit the music tab at the top left and it will ask you to list your 3 favorite songs and then it will give you a list of like songs for you to check out. Rate them and it learns what you like and can do an even better job picking out music that may intrest you!
This works for not only music but, books and movies as well!! -Pix
