Hi James
I read through your lyrics a few times and I'm not totally sure where your coming from with this one.
The lyrics are great and show your usual mastery of the English language.
Maybe I'm missing all the signs on this one.
Well done look forward to hear it recorded

Hi lextalionis
It's all a question of making your guitar playing easier for yourself and not to get hung up to much on fundamentals.
Sure some chords seem to require almost impossible string damping to bring off as by the book.
But as you say if they are in the middle of a song which probally has singing going on over the top a undampened string in the chord is not going to be heard and won't really change much in the sound of the song.
As Roger says theres nearly always a workable variation of the chord you want to play with an  easier shape.

Hi Tekaran
I started finger picking by using simple arpeggios on all the basic chords.
This gives you a quick start into picking and a foundation for further development.

Hi heavy_samurai

I think "lines and number things" you refer to are called TABS
and the TABS for malaguena can be found here.

Hi 06sc500
Naming a instrumental guitar song can be hard. Mine are mostly unnamed right to the last.
When I get a progression and overlaying melody sometimes something in the tone rhythm or feel of the piece suggests something to me an emotion or picture in my mind.
Other times nothing much comes so I record the piece and play it over many times see if something develops.
If all else fails I ask my wife what the piece suggest to her and see if what she feels sits well with me.
It's strange that something seeming so simple can be so frustrating and hard.

Can remember those steamtrains just before electrication of our mainline.
Being a young child at the time I found them rather frightening with all the steam smoke and sparks flying around. Memories again daddycool
Thank you

Great song daddycool. I love wild birds.
Last year I nearly did my back in staggering to my car boot with a 25kg sack of wild bird seed  (cheaper buying it that way) for our feeders in the garden.
Still it was worth it  to see all the different birds feeding.

Hi all
Russell Harding and myself (arkady) have collabrated on a Instrumental guitar song called "Downstream"
It came about when Russell heard the song on Myspace page and felt it needed some percussion etc which it was lacking.
Being mostly guitar orientated and not really understanding the role of percussion or being able to apply without the means he offered to do it himself.
I emailed him the mp3 of the song which he was able download into his digital recorder and apply the percussion.
I think he's done a great job. As it was a complete experiment and we weren't sure of the results we were both pleased with end product.
It can be heard here http://www.myspace.com/friendsofchordie

The orginal song is on Myspace page  if any wish compare the recordings.
Thanks
Arkady

Hi daddycool
I'm posting this for you again because we would all like to her your songs recorded. It's a shame you can't get it to work for you.

Phil williams the first bit for you to help you sign up

Go to Myspace artist signup here. http://signup.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=bandjoin
Fill in the form.
Get your page then follow these instructions for up loading your songs. (Originally provided by James)
Log in to MySpace On your home page, find and click 'edit profile' There are several tabs - click 'Manage Songs 'You will be asked to supply the song's title and some other info After filling in those blanks, you will get a screen that asks you to tell it where the mp3 file is on your computer. Once you pick the file, you hit 'upload' and wait while a copy of the file is sent. This step might take a couple of minutes. After the sound file is uploaded, you can also upload an image (optional). I like to search Google Image to find something to accompany my songs. I find and save the image file before starting the song upload process. After the image loads, you can select what order your songs appear (won't matter for the first one).

Please don't think I'm being a smart alec posting this here I genuinely would like to hear your songs.
All the best

Hi vhagopian
Welcome to Chordie.
Now what can say that hasn't or will be said here...Mmmm
I've been playing for over 20years and yes I'm still learning and mores to the point still playing bum notes and alike. Still practicing mostly every day still pushing myself and getting it wrong but sometimes getting it right.
Learning the guitar is not an exact science we all progress at different rates but we all progress.
The  key to getting on is to love what you are doing and practice.

Another good one from you. You clearly thought alot of your Grandpa.
Well done.
Only ever knew one granddad in growing up. He was very Victorian and aloof but was kind and gentle and devoted to his alotment.
He served in the 1st world war and I wish I had spent more time listening to his stories of his varied life. Oh well such is life and regrets.
Nice story Roger made me smile.
