We have 8 dogs. Seven of them are wolf/malamute cross breeds and one alsatian/border collie named Jack who is my shadow, also the only one who appreciates my guitar playing. He lies at my feet thru' thick and thin. We live on a farm with a big dam so the term ''let's go surfing'' means let's hit the water. Keeps them cool and healthy.

INDIAN MAN BUVVY 13-09-09
I STROLLED UPON A MOUNTAIN PATH
SLOWLY AND ON MY OWN
A STREAM FLOWED SLOWLY BY
AS I DREAMED MY DREAMS
ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN HIGH
CLOUDS WERE SLOWLY FLEETING BY
THE SKY A DEEPER BLUE THAN BLUE
SUDDENLY A FIGURE APPEARED
TO BLOCK OUT THE HAZY VIEW
GOOD DAY MY SON
SAID HE
DO I KNOW YOU
I THINK NOT
WHO ARE YOU
TO SUDDENLY SPOIL MY VIEW
MY NAME IS AS THE CLOUDS
FLEETING AND WHIMSICAL TOO
MY NAME IS AS THE RAIN
BROUGHT TO CLEANSE YOU
WHY DO YOU STAND BEFORE ME
STRANGE RED MAN
SWAYING IN THE BREEZE
YOUR HEAD DRESS TOO
IS SOMETHING
I HAVE NOT SEEN BEFORE
BUT IT MAKES ME FEEL
A SENSE OF WONDERFUL EASE
I AM ALWAYS WITH YOU
YOU ARE NEVER ALONE
EVEN IN YOUR DREAMS
WHEN EVER YOU FEEL PAIN
MY SPIRIT ALWAYS COMFORTS YOU
I WRAP YOU IN MY SPIRITUAL VEIL
MY FEATHERED HEAD DRESS
ENCOMPASSES YOU
SO DO NOT WORRY
ABOUT EVER BEING ALONE
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO
IS STROLL ALONG ANY TRAIL
IN YOUR MIND
OR IN YOUR THOUGHTS
MY POWER FLOWS THRU’ YOU
SO DO NOT GIVE IN TO ANY GREED
KEEP YOUR THOUGHTS PURE
MY MIND IS AS YOURS
OUR LIVES ARE TWINNED AS ONE
WHEN NEXT YOU STROLL
UPON A MOUNTAIN TRAIL
SPEND A MOMENT IN THOUGHT
AND YOUR GUARDIAN RED MAN
ALWAYS WILL PREVAIL
I WILL ALWAYS PROTECT YOU
I WILL CAST YOUR SHADOW TOO
FOR ALL ALONG
THE MOUNTAIN TRAIL
I WAS SENT TO BE WITH YOU

You say that your weather is a bit miz right now, pop over to us for a while, summer has finally arrived after a very wild and woolly winter, today is a nice warm 28 degrees. Tomorrow will be 29 degrees.

Anything and everything by Leonard Cohen. Just don't overdose on him tho', otherwise you could land up feeling worse that what you are now.
When a Man Loves a Woman by Percy Sludge.
Also try writing your own song. It might be very therapeutic, and also help you to see things in perspective. Hopefully some of this info will help.

Topic: Two Towers (1 replies, posted in Poems)
I was in two minds as to whether I should post this poem after reading some of the other comments earlier today. But here goes, as we all know, the world is dictated to by meglomaniacs, and death and destruction are almost the norm in very many parts of this planet. A truly sad and pitiful state of affairs.
TWO TOWERS BUVVY 20-07-09
TWO TOWERS
STANDING TALL
TWIN PEAKS
SYMBOL OF A NATIONS’ PRIDE
SOLID AS ROCK
ABLE TO WITHSTAND
ANY SHOCK
MORTAR AND BRICKS
AMERICA’S SYMBOLS
THERE WERE NO TRICKS
STANDING TALL
FOR ALL TO SEE
SYMBOLS OF STRENGTH
FOR YOU AND FOR ME
HOUSING MANY OFFICES OF PRIDE
EMPLOYMENT FOR MANY
EVEN COUNTRY WIDE
BUT A PLOT WAS HATCHED
TO WRECK THE SYMBOLS
OF THE USA’S TWIN TOWERS
TO REDUCE THEM TO RUBBLE
TO REMOVE THEM FROM SIGHT
TO TURN THEIR MEANING
INTO HUMAN PLIGHT
PLANES WERE DESPATCHED
LUNATICS TOO
THE PILOTS WERE KILLED
MADMEN TOOK THE REINS
OF THE USA’S INNOCENT PLANES
SUICIDE OR MURDER
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE
ALL SANE MEN CRY
WHY IN GOD’S NAME
DID SO MANY DIE
SOME LANDS REJOICED
SOME LANDS CRIED
TODAY IS THE DAY
THAT FREEDOM HAS DIED
MANY TEARS WERE SHED
FOR THE INNOCENT DEAD
MEMORIALS WERE HELD
REJOICING TOO
SO MANY LIVES
TORN TO A SHRED
BUT THE TIME WILL COME
SAY MANY SANE MEN
WHEN REVENGE WILL COME
SWIFT AND JUST
FOR THE SOLDIERS’ OF GOD
IN THEM ALL FAIR MEN
BESTOW THEIR TRUST
EVIL MEN WITH EVIL MINDS
CAN NOT LAST LONG
SAY THE ANGELS OF GOD
THEIR TIME WILL COME
AS SURELY AS NIGHT FOLLOWS DAY
FOR THEM TO FALL TO THEIR KNEES
AND SAY LET’S PRAY
WILL NO MORE WORK
ON JUDGEMENT DAY

Re: one album that changed how you feel about music (18 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
For me it was the Bluesbreakers album by John Mayall with Eric Clapton circa' '66 or '67. That album totally rearranged everything, musically speaking, for me, for ever.

Re: Can anyone sing?? (21 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Mick, the answer is ''yes'' and ''no''. If sounds coming out of your mouth whilst playing the guitar are to be called singing = yes. If sounds coming out of your mouth don't enhance the guitar, no matter how bad the playing is = NO. I tried to sing one of my songs a while back, and after SWAMBO, [she who always must be obeyed] finally stopped larfin', she threatened to phone a lawyer if I ever attempted to sing anything EVER again. I hope that this helps you.

Hi SfS, try writing something yourself, as KajiMa suggested. Here is an opener for you, I am a sailor, always at sea, but you are my only love, my need to be; if you complete the text and can't play it as a song, recite it to her as a poem, that should do the trick and the sun should shine for both of you again. Alternatively show her all the help and suggestions you have been gathering on Chordie and that should win her over as to your sincerity. best of luck.

Re: BIG CONCERTS (13 replies, posted in Bands and artists)
The best for me was without a doubt the Bath festival in the UK in 1970. Canned Heat, Santana, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Moody Blues, Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, The Flock, Colisseum, John Mayall with Peter Green. Unfortunately my Geezer Hood is showing as i can't remenber all of the groups, but suffice to say it was FANTASTIC.

Re: The best era of music? (22 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Bensonp, my good man, pearls of wisdom, what can I add to your answer, other than the fact that we must both be baby boomers. The 50's and 60's set the yardstick by which all other music is judged, and created, if you take John Mayall's Bluesbreakers album with Eric Clapton, after more than 40 years, it will still rock the sox off plenty of newer artists and albums. From Buddy Holly to Jimi the Man, they blew the planet apart. The same cannot be said for many of the newer groups, maybe it is an age thing, but, I have nephews and nieces who love Elvis, The Shadows and all the rest of the ''older groups''.Hip hop and Rap I am afraid to say,,,,, well, better that I don't say.
Long live good rock&roll.

You're definitely a fully fledged geezer if you ever had a 3 geared car. My first car was a 1957 Ford Defect. I can remember so many horror stories of that car that more than one person has said to me that i should write a book about it. So guess what, I have started to write. I hope that i have enuff' stories to finish, and to get it published. lol

For those of you who follow soccer, I hope that you drank a few cold one's to your national soccer team for making it all the way to the finals of the event. They even blitzed the Spanish team, who were no. 1. They narrowly lost to Brazil, and as you might or might not know Brazil are right up there amongst the top soccer nations. So, well done to the US soccer team.

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage! (14 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Topdown, take your son to the beach and introduce him to the best sport you'll ever be able to encourage him to get into. My 2 stepdaughters started surfing as teenagers and their friends thought that it was the greatest thing since sliced bread for them to be supplied with wetsuits, boards and to be driven to all the surf spots. I took them to J-Bay once and they had the time of their lives, so go ahead and do it. I'm sure that he will thank you for ever. Trust me, it won't be long before you will have a van load of kids to collect every weekend to cart to the spots. That on its' own will keep you ''Forever Young''

Re: Really Cool Surfing footage! (14 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Hi to all the guys and gals who surf. I started in 1965 and have just spent a week in Jeffrey's Bay [at age 62], we had 3 days of 1-2 foot, then 6 ft, then 6-10 ft, unfortunately the wind swung so the big surf was not too good, also, at this age trying to paddle for your life thru' 8ft of white water is not exactly fun. My one bud Chris owns a house at J-Bay and is 57 years young, Seamus is 69 years and had a hip replacement job done a few years ago. so it just goes to show, you are never too old to have fun, and survive. We also spent 2 weeks there in March and had non stop surf between 3 and 8 foot, as well as many fires, beers and stringalongs and singalongs. lol. Hang ten
