Dito! (Except I am 18)
Well done both of you, that is the correct attitude.

I wish all the best to your wife. It will be very comforting for her to have her family close by during such a harrowing time. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Tobacco has 420 different chemicals, cannibis only 103, I'm with pix.. some say it cures,,,,,
My point exactly Smoke a cigarette and you imbibe 420 chemicals, smoke a joint and imbibe 523.
Neither is good for you.
Roger
Maybe things will improve with practice.

All things improve with practice.....................
............... or perhaps we just build up an immunity

Not wanting to cause an argument or upset anyone but this is something I have heard before and I cannot logically make sense of.
Tobacco is a natural grown plant and we all know that smoking it produces nicotine, tars and countless other toxic chemicals and the long term effects on our health from it's use. However we take the same cigarette and add a few bits of a different plant (or toasted bits off a brown block) then suddenly all the harmful effect are eliminated and it is supposed to be good for you!! I cannot get my head around that reasoning in any way, shape or form.
By the way I have been a cigarette smoker for good part of my life and whilst writing this I do have a desire to partake, but I will resist as I have for the past year.
Roger
For the first time in my 64 years on this earth I have been stoned!! Never in my life have I smoked a 'joint' (I think that is the correct term) and I most definitely will not start.
On Thursday evening I called at my neighbour's house when I saw that a mutual friend was there and sat with them in the lounge with a glass of water. They were both smoking 'wacky baccy' and although I noticed that the smell was stronger than usual I ignored it. After about 15 minutes I started to feel a little peculiar, five minutes later I was feeling decidedly odd, dizzy, disorientated, shaky and nauseous. I made a rapid exit, walked home, crashed out for two hours and did not feel my usual self for 24 hours.
Even imbibed second hand it is not to be recommended.
Roger
What chord sounds the best??
The Chord E of course!!
Ouch that was bad!!
Hi Steve and welcome to Chordie,
For the time you have been playing that is excellent, the timing, rhythm and chord changes are surprising good for just 12 weeks of learning. Well done.
Roger
P.S. If you use a progamme like the free Audacity you can add your singing to the track after the playing so you do not have to do the two together (just like most professional artistes do).
Hi Bill and welcome to Chordie,
I see you have been a lurker for a while so I am pleased you have now decided to join in.
I am only a few years younger than you and I started at 11 years old so I cannot remember when I first started playing F, admittedly it was only a 4 string version to start with, but I have been barring it for many years now and I am comfortable with it even on my 12er.
For you guys and gals that are having problems the only way is the usual way, practice, practice and then some more practice.
Roger
ps... Roger, maybe we should make a sticky for this issue? I can throw something together when I get a few moments if you'd like.
Good idea Amy. I will leave that in your capable hands
.
Roger
Happy B'Day Roger...are you 39 again?
Well although I feel about 29 I will give a clue to my real age...... The Beatles wrote a for me
.
I have a bit of a headache this morning, it must be something I ate last night.
Thank you guys,
Roger
Hi and thank you all.
I have just returned home, switched on and was surprised to find this thread. I think I am eligable for a bus pass in the UK but there is no such thing here in Portugal and as I have only had 3 weeks back there in the last 6 years there is little point.
I shall have a quiet celebration at home but I shall be in contact with my family through Skype and a no doubt have a drink or two. In fact I share my birthday with my brother's lady friend so as we cannot celebrate together we shall do so via cyberspace.

Jamplay is a guitar tuition course which is promoted Chordie.
Roger
Does that mean that you hate The Animals, "House of the Rising Sun"? Shame on you if you do

Hi Igor and welcome to the forum,
As you no doubt realise you do not have to be logged in to access the songs and so I am sure that the problem is a local one with your PC (if it were general there would be 100's of similar messages). You can easily verify this by using another PC and seeing if the problem persists. It might be a good idea to conduct a virus and spyware scan and delete all cookies on your PC.
Roger
Hi Steelstrings,
I have a 70's Melody1200 and can switch from this to either my acoustic or electric 6 string guitars with no problems and because it has a terrific action, probably partly due to a zero fret, barre chords are just as easy on it as a 6 string. The octave tuning of the four bass pairs give a very full sound. I love my 12er.
As Marty has already said get along to your local stores and try some out.
Roger
I am really surprised not have recieved any replies at all.
I will leave it open until after Easter in case holidays are preventing this from being seen and if there are still no candidates I will have to put my thinking cap on again.

Sadly because of other commitments Alan (alvee33) can no longer devote the necessary time to moderate Chordie. This means that I have to find someone to to take over his duties and because we want the best coverage I need someone from Europe, Asia, Australia or New Zealand as the sections he covers already has someone from America in place.
The duties are not onerous, we rarely have problems with existing Members apart from the occasional copyright infringements so we are generally dealing with spam and spammers or moving posts that are out of section. It will mean logging on at least once a day to check every new post in your allotted sections. Moderators do have their own section that is unseen by anyone else for our private discussions.
Because time differences I think it is only fair to ask anyone who has the time and is interested to e-mail me and I will close the applications in 24 hours, put the names in a hat, close my eyes and pick one out.
I would like to thank Alan for the sterling job he has done whist moderating Chordie, he has been a real asset to the site, and wish him all the best for the future. I am sure we will see him around still and I hope he will not become a stranger.

Hi tcalvins and welcome to Chordie,
Although I am unable to answer your query (I know nothing of these new fangled contraptions, even my computer is steam driven
) I do however know that the Webmaster, Per, is currently working on the iPad/iPhone applications to get them working better.
Roger
I'm glad I can do that and I hope I do it without offending anyone. Besides, that is what you guys pay me for. I'll expect a check soon!!!
Unfortunately the amount of the cheque keeps being exceeded by the postage. ![]()
