Hello elfy and bighouse, welcome to Chordie,

You would have to all log in with the same user name and password to do this but I am not sure how Chordie would handle it if several people in different locations were logged on at the same time. I will consult with the web master and get back to you on this.

If this is possible the biggest danger is that if one person is silly and gets banned from the site then effectively all are banned and no one can the access the songbook.

Hi Gemini and welcome to Chordie,

I have contacted Per, the webmaster, and asked him to look into this concern for you.

Happy Birthday Canada and all Canadians but especially Badeye's mum and our Jeff (Jets60) who also has a big one today but not quite as many as Canada (he is 93 years younger).

Hi Maxine,

Thanks for the explanation. I find it a little frustrating when people comment against something/brand without an explanantion so I am pleased to find out why you are unhappy with them. At the end of the day I think it comes down to what feels good to you in your price range and the more you can pay the better product you will get.

Hi Maxine,

I cannot help you with a tutor but there are two things that you can do to help with timing.

One is to buy (or use an on-line) metronome, set it to the tempo of the song and play whilst listening to the beat to keep you timing even.

The other is to look on the internet for midi files of the song you want to play and play long with it, you may need a to alter the key to suit your voice or playing but there are programmes to do this.

Good luck,

Roger

Hi Maxine and welcome to Chordie,

You appear to have had a bad experience with the mahalo uke and I would be interested to know what the problem is.

Hi Amy,

You should be proud. There is a lot of talent in that little girl, give her a big 'well done' from me.

Thank you all for you comments. Although I like the idea of having a built in tuner particularly for twelve strings I am now convinced that cutting a large hole in her side to accomodate one is not the thing to do.

'Shadow' (brand name) produce several different types and some are available at my friend's shop so I will try a few out and see, well hear, what they are like. The under saddle pickup which I have used on other guitars may not work on this one as the bridge is adjustable but I am very interested in the K&K 3 transducer system that 'Pix mentioned. This also uses a jack socket that replaces the strap button she will still look in her original condition with it fitted.

I will keep you posted and try and get some actual photos of my baby i  due course.

Hi Gomez,

The first of your links did not work but the second one is from our very own Guitarpix, co-Moderator of this section. Here it is on Chordie: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=12387

And here is another project on a friend's Fender guitar: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=15038

There is no specific key for a sad love song but minor keys generally work to produce the right atmosphere and my favourite progression for this kind of song is Cmaj7 to Fmaj7.

Welcome to Chordie.

Hi Steph and welcome to Chordie,

Some chord charts (like the one on Chordie) show a 'diamond' instead of an 'O' and as you already know this means it is played open.

Jeff, Pete and Geo,

Thanks for the comments. I am very much in two minds as to what to do although I do like the idea of having a built in tuner for a 12er.

Zurf,

I have accomodation arranged for you and, although there is not too much fishing around here  (many rivers dry up in the summer) know a lake where you can dangle a hook for an hour or two.

Today I have become the proud owner of a Melody 1200 guitar from the mid to late 60's I believe.  Here are some on-line photos of a similar one: http://www.fetishguitars.com/html/recan … /1200.html

Mine may be a little older than this as she does not have the transfer on the headstock, she also has a black bridge and has a different, circular label. The zero fret means that she has a beautiful low action and she plays a dream, albeit a little on the quiet side but new strings may help that.

There is one of the bracings that needs re-gluing (Mondays job when I re-string her) and I shall have to electrify her in the next week or two. I have not yet decided what system to use but it will probably be a Shadow one as they are readily available. I am toying with the idea of putting in a pre-amp with tuner which means cutting a hole in her side or wondering if perhaps I should keep her as original as possible and use a clip-on or stick-on system. Decisions, decisions!! I would appreciate your views on this.

Nom, in my opinion a 'Sticky' is to impart valuable information and not to be a discussion document so I always 'close' them or give warning that added posts will be removed.

When Amy wrote the post I guess she did not realise this and it is not my place to edit her message, hence the confusion, but I hope this clears it up.

Hi Nom,

I suggest you go ahead and do it. As Amy pointed out you were gracious enough to ask first so put it up and if we see a problem with it we can drop you a line and ask you to remove it, but I doubt it will come to that.

Hi Kenton and welcome to Chordie,

If you go into the 'Resources' and at the bottom of 'Your Account' you will see 'Change Settings'. Here you can alter your instrument to ukulele so all songs will then display ukulele chords.

Amy,

With a .co.nz e-mail address I would guess that Peter (hardground) is from New Zealand.

Peter,

I see you registered two years ago and this is your first post, so welcome to the Chordie forum and I am sorry you have not had much success with this request. Better luck next time.
