yeah and if your action is high on your acoustic it makes a world of difference to lower it.

i really have nooo idea what you are talking about........

haha I wonder how many times people have asked this... but It's always interesting.
I've got a cheap yamaha classical guitar I hope to update soon, and a fairly nice twenty year old Ibanez acoustic.

Hi everyone, just a quick question.
I have an Ibanez Performance acoustic guitar , model PF20TV,  and I'm just curious about it. I was given it by a friend, who got it from my uncle, who got it from a  pawnshop like 25 yrs ago. I have been unable to find any info on it except that it was discontinued like 20 yrs ago.
It's still in great condition, great sound, no defects really from age. It was well played.

I love this guitar, but I'm curious to how much it would have been worth new, and how much it might be now....  What type of level guitar it is.

Thanks guys!!!

God Bless

I know all  the basic chords, but I'm not that good at transposing on the spot, so I use a capo for that and when you're for instance playing E on 7 and 9 and you leave the bottom string and top two open, but you play F or something. things like that.

Do you mean with finger picks or with  just your fingers???

cuz I can finger pick with just my fingers really well, mostly cuz I play classical as well as acoustic, but I have a hard time with picking usually. I'm getting better at it, but.... yeah.
Does anyone have any tips???

Ummmm.......  nothing. I got it for free from a friend and its a really nice guitar, great look, sound, and make. Ibanez.
I researched it and it was discontinued over twenty years, ago, so it's an old guitar, but judging the condition it's in, it was well cared for.

Luv it.

A low action and small neck can really make a difference for small hands. And make sure you don't play with high tension strings.

I can play pretty much whatever is needed to get me through an average song.

That depends on the person, whether you do it easy and transfer to hard and then hard and transfer to easy.

They both work.

I did hard to easy.

My Dad has one. He bought it at a garage sale 25 yr ago and hasn't it played it much and it has fallen into disrepair.

I was just wondering, has anybody ese heard of that brand?  Cuz i sure haven't.

Ok in saying that most christian music out now is crap, you are making a huge generalization.

To start, I am a christian and I totally don't agree what with alot of you are saying.

Whoever said science has debunked christianity, you have NO Idea what you are saying. If you are interested in that at all, I would heartily recommend checking out Creation Magazine, where you see the other side of the story.  If you're not interested, you have no business making statements like that.

And contemporary christian music being crap?? come on, now how much have you actually heard?

There are some bands that are not that good, sure, but have you heard Casting Crowns ? Amazing band. Their whole dedication to music is really to God, and to ministring to others I t totally shows in the way they sing, the way they presnt them selves, their amazing lyrics, and the way they ignore in a way all their awards, record sales, nominations, all that media attention, saying that is not what is important about their music career. God is.

There are so many good singers out their that are Christian. Actually, this may stir up alot of argument, but I really believe that most Secular music is crap. Their attitudes, the way they present themselves, the message they have, So much of it makes me sick.

and I totally agree with what Adnek55 just said.

Does an acoustic guitar generally get better with age, or is it the other way around?

My dad has a twenty plus yr old Lotus guitar that is pretty much unusable without some really major adjustments due to neck and body problems, ( the neck is way bent and the body is caving in around the sound hole and swelling past the saddle), but i have a twenty plus yr old Ibanez Performance that has an great clear sound still and has perfectly retained it's body shape.  Which is more common? Does it depend on the the kind of guitar, or what?

Thanks guys!

That is the first song I wrote with music, ( I'm 13) and as you could see from a former post about
how to get started, I never really could get any thing going before.

Well I found  out how to get started writing music! You don't, really . It just came, all in one evening.

This song is not entirely finalized, but I don't think I'm gonna change it much.

Thanks!

Another quick question: Is it easier to put lyrics to music already written or vice versa?

How exactly do you get started writing music?

i'm a 13 yr old and have been playing acoustic guitar for about a year, classical for five, but I just don't really understand how you people do it.

I can and have wrote lyrics, but I can never really think of  music for it. Is there any easy way to get started with that kind of thing?

do you just fool around until a tune comes and you start developing it?

I have written a fairly good song, but ti was a classical guitar song and that is TOTALLY different.

thanks!

Ok ok, just thought it was a little strange.

anyways, it is interesting!

rap

hawk nelson

fried zucchini

fried mushrooms

hemp ice cream

just curious though, what place does this discussion have on a guitar site???

I played a bit of piano, but I stopped after a couple years.

Currently, I've been playing classical guitar for 5 yrs and acoustic for one, acoustic generally self taught.

I'm fairly open minded in music but I can't stand heavy metal, thrash metal,  gothic metal, death metal, and other metals. I'm the only person out of my friends who likes classical Spannish music (such as flamenco), which my guitar teacher introduced to me kindly.

Thanks for any comments,

Will

I also am right with you there about spanish flamenco and stuff.
I play classical as well as acoustic, and I am hopefully just about to start learning that.

Umm..

My favorite is definetely Christian contemporary/soft rock.
Casting Crowns!!!!!!!

I can't stand alot of music, such as any metal, rap, ( this is just my opinion but rap is just people who don't have enough talent to sing. I don't want to start a debate, but that's my opinion. Can't stand it), and like screamo and stuff.
