How much are you looking to spend? Fishman and Fender are some of the best acoustic amps you can get. It's according to what you really need or want also. I play my acoustic/electric thru a Vox VT 50 modeling tube amp and it sounds as true  thru it as it does unplugged just alot louder. Just go out and try as many as you can. It doesn't have to be acoustic amp if you find the right one. Good luck on your search.

I idolised Angus Young and Toni Iomi and later Jerry Garcia.
the one thing in common ?
the Gibson SG.
I hated the guitar..later I loved to hate it.these days I have played with a few at the music store and I am starting to love them.
think I will get the Epiphone Les Paul re issue ( as SG`s where called in the early days)
the one with 3 humbuckers.
the Strat will allways be my main guitar but strange how things go.
Peace Out

The LP Reissue with a good set of P90s will get you the sounds of Angus, Iommi and Garcia. On top of that it looks better and is balanced alot better.

First off welcome to chordie rowly14. A good set up makes things easier. The thing with barre chords is it's good to use the index and middle finger to apply enough pressure to get a clean sound. Plenty of practice and you will have it in no time.

I haven't tried the actual thing but my Vox VT50 has models of it and the AC15, AC30, Nighttrain pretty much any vox tube amp you want plus some of the more poular Fender amps. The good thing about it is the vt50 is tube warmed like the real thing so they all sound great with a variable 0 - 50 watts to boot.

I handle whse vending problems and freight loss claims for a retail chian distribution center throughout the southeast. It's not as luxurious as i'd like but it pays the bills and keeps the family fed.

I'm my own teacher also and when i get stuck in a rut or hit a plateau i just search you tube for lessons that i haven't worked on yet and find different songs from other genres i wouldn't usually try. You could also go back to the first songs you learned and embelish the easy version with the new tricks or skills you have learned. Then again when you think you've learned enough give a listen to some of the pros. It will give you inspiration and humble you at the same time.

I'd like to know more about this also. I have a 4ohm solid state acoustic amp that i'd like to connect with my 8ohm electric hybrid amp. The instruction manual says not to connect any cabinet or amp not of the same ohm rating or minimum watt handling because it could damage the amp and or speaker. I think there is still a way to do it safely but how? I'm not looking to get louder just a different sound and versatility.

Thanks guys for the info. I saw on the tube to use lighter fluid but wasn't sure. I tried the polish remover but i didn't use enough to really wet the glue good so nothing really happened to it. I'll try and put up some before and after pics when i get it done just for the sake of helping others in this situation. Thanks again i can always count on you good people to help with my problems.

I just removed the pickguard from my acoustic. The point end was sticking up and bothering me so i just took it off. Doing so it left glue residue and part of the paper backing from the guard. I know how to put on a new one and where to find it but i can't get the residue and backing off. I tried alcohol and nail polish remover but they didn't work. I don't want to try to many things because i don't want to hurt the finish. I plan on putting a clear pickguard back on. Does any of you know what i can get to clean this up without hurting the finish? Thanks in advance.

Congrats Zurf. Singing hasn't ever been my thing either but i can stand to hear myself most of the time. It does make those household singalongs more enjoyable. I'm sure your children wouldn't mind either way. It is the effort that counts when it comes to the little ears.

Thanks. My GAS for an LP copy is finally cured. It is way better than any Epi LP I've tried so Agile is highly recommended if anyone is looking. Yeah my wife is good to me and she tries to help me with my GAS attacks when we can afford it. She is really supportive with my hobby because for the past few years guitars has taken over my free time away from work, church and family responsabilities.

I got it all sorted out by giving the strings a really good hand stretch and rewinding. It stays in tune better now but i'm still changing the strings out to Ernie Ball coated slinkys. I use the EB's on my acoustics and they are the best sounding and easiest to tune and play i've tried so maybe thier electric strings will be as good.

My Favorite "All Time" Songs are.

Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Patience - GNR
Sweet Emotions - Aerosmith
Crossroads - Eric Clapton
La Grange - ZZ Top

I guess I'm a country lover at heart but i like to rock too. After all that's what i was raised on musically.

Did you buy through Rondo Music? He's got the best return policy in the business so at least you're covered. He'll replace or refund with no problems.

Congrats on the new guitar. I've got an AL2500 I've had for a few years...great guitar

Yeah i got from Rondo. It really is a good guitar and i've grown attatched to it since it's my only good electric if i can just keep the G string in tune.

dfoskey,
My first rule when buying a new guitar:  Change the strings.  I don't care if the manufacturer put those strings on yesterday.  Change them.  Change them before you play the first chord.  Change them before you plug it in for the first time.  Change them to whatever your favorite strings are.  Assume that the only reason those strings are on there is to hold tension on the neck.  Until that guitar is yours, that is the only purpose they serve, so change them. That will probably solve a lot of problems right off the bat.  You will probably have to readjust that saddle again for intonation,  but Tune-o-matics are pretty easy to deal with.  Good luck and let me know what happens please.

Thanks for such a quick response. I thought of that but wasn't sure if it made that much difference. I'll let you know by the weekend. Thanks again.

I'm having problems keeping my new guitar in tune. In standard tuning all is fine for ten minutes of playing then the G string goes flat and rings out a litle louder than the others. It all started when i raised the bridge saddle to stop some buzzing on my E string (it was too low). The guitar is a LP copy by Agile and the strings are Daddario 10-46 which are the stock strings. I've already checked and rechecked the intonation on the same string but each time i tune the string i reset the saddle also. I can't figure out what's wrong with it. The strings are only two weeks old and have been stretched but i really haven't played it that much lately. The frets look level the tuners hold good and the neck looks straight. What else do i need to check or do to solve this problem? The only thing i haven't tried is changing the strings. Could it be so simple? Help if you can before i spend money for a set up that i don't need... or do I??? Thanks for any help.

If you are playing it clean and can move to and from other chords comfortably that way just go with it. To my knowledge any one can use any fingers to form a chord as long as it is at the correct fret an on the correct strings. You might find help on some of the online sites for guitar lessons. Just remember if you use your index, middle and ring finger it will prepare you better for playing the other D chords easier.

As everyone else mine changes daily but for past few days i've been favoring these.

1) Koko Jo - Jerry Reed
2) Free - Zac Brown Band
3) Prodigal - Casting Crowns
4) Hilllbilly Bone - Trace Adkins & Blake Shelton
5)On A Corner In Memphis - Todd Agnew

I don't own a SG but i've had a neck heavy guitar before. Sometimes a wider strap helps then if that doesn't work you could use a counter balance on the other end to hold it up.

The combination of Brad Paisley and Keith Urban on Making A Band is really good. Two of today's country musics best pickers together.
