Heres an interesting thought . Do you think its ok to edit a cover song .
My opinion is yes and I often do , I will change or edit a verse sometimes ,play a bridge as a solo ,completly re write a verse .
I do this to make it easier for me to perform certain material while keeping the feel of the original but making it my own interpretation. Some time an original version of a song may have phrasing ai cant sing due to language or pitch or speed . Sure I can play it but do you think its right to butcher another artists material .
Just wondered what your thoughts are . About 20 yrs ago I appeared live on a european radio station who were reviewing my cover of John Martins song Glory box . The reviewer loved the version and said the reason she liked it was because we'd made it our song and not just a cover version .

Been a while since I posted any thing new but this is a demo of a song i wrote a few days ago
Its all me and the trio pedal recorded direct into the boss looper and then to a hand held zoom recorder . All comments welcome as ever . The vocals need enhancing and it needs more heckling in the later chorus

Main thing is string hight but also consider tuning down half a step to E flat it will take some of the pressure off . But you would need to play with a capo on fret 1 hif you play with som one in normal tuning

Cheers guys . I always try to do a few charity shows each year . I remember about 14 yrs ago one of the big greek bands who will remain nameless asked 11000 euros to play a charity event on Crete . The money from ticket sales would have hardley covered that and the venue rental . Same act tried to take over our merchendise stall that we were running for our Bands Against Poverty charity at another festival . Dispicable .

Yesterday I took part in a fantastic event in York .The relay for life 2026 .
The event is for people and familys who have survived or lost freinds or loved ones to cancer .The event has teams of people walking round playing field for 24 hrs. Sevral performers had been asked to proved entertainment for the day
My friend Kev Jones had aranged for me to play .
Over the past few yrs the charity has raised money for Cancer research ,
I'm always happy to take part in these sort of events if I am available .
Here's a vid of me playing Bullfrog blues for my old mates Brian and Chris who both were taken by cancer some years ago .
