Re: New mic day (5 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Gave it a propper test last night and it does sound bright compared to a real SM58 , its ok for a hand out mic . Ive never shared a mic with any one since I forgot to take mine to a festival and ended up with a throat infection which I think came from using the mics supplied by the sound guy.
Whe I used to run open mics I would always sanitise the mics I provided between acts .

Re: New mic day (5 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
A low volume test sounds a bit brighter than a real one so I suspect it wont reject feed back as good as the real one . However I also have a fake SM58 radio mic which Is pretty good . Used to use it when I ran open micnights just for introducing the act when I was at the sound desk .

Just recieved a Temu Sure SM 58 mic . Havent tested it yet but its obviously fake . The Wind shield has a different shape ,not perectly round and the central band is thicker , the logos are small and the carry bag is poor quality . The biggest givaway apart from the obvious price difference is the weight the Temu one weighs 100g less than a genuine one
All this aside I have had Temu replacement cartridges for Sure mics in the past which sound ok .
I'll plug it in later to test it . but I'm certain its worth the £10 paid for it .
More info later

Next week I am playing a festival for the CND I hope it will be ok to cover this song as it says so much about the horrors of war

Re: Nashville tuning (4 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Further to this post I've played the guitar in this tuning for a while but I found the action a little low and the strings were choking a little higher up the fret board so I replace the saddle with a slightly taller one which helped , however the string tension felt a little high and I ended up snapping the G string so I have since replaced that and tuned down a half step to Eb .I can of course play in standard E by using a capo on fret1 . Much better and jangly all the way up the neck

Ive just set a spare acoustic up in Nashville tuning using a set of Diadario Nashville strings rather than rob a 12 string set for the E A D G octave strings from a 12 string set . It gives a very mandolin like sound , my only reservation at the moment is if I play a lead run from the hi E string 10th fret finishing on the Gstring 9th fret ( D C A G E progresion ) it sounds too sharp as it is a whole ocave up . However playing somthing like the intro to Tambourine man sounds great .
Any one else tried this ?

ok this is a song I was commisioned to write for the Matala festival 2013 on Crete it contains both the words Day and Today . Sadly we never got to play it live as the organisers turned the running of the featival over to a UK booking agency who completly rode roughshod over the artists booked by the previous council organisers and we endedup being cut from our prime slot on mainstage on the Saturday and only got to do our acoustic slot on the second stage on Sunday .The whole festival was ruined that year by second rate tribute acts they shipped in from the UK , One of which turned up with out instruments ,then asked if they could borrow ours as we were no longer on the main stage .Needless to say we refused as we had been booked 12 months previously .
Any way I posted the song on sound cloud but it never made it into our set and was only ever played on radio .
Hope you like it https://soundcloud.com/graham-windle/to … ever-comes
