Its a good song Jim.
Your method of inspiration reminds me of somthing I used to do at University when I was studying writing for TV and radio especialy if I was looking to write a comedy sketch or play . I would go and sit in a cafe or a bar and try and tune into other peoples conversation , Some times the most random lines triggered an idea for somthing . I remember two drunks discussing music and getting it all wrong ,and as a budding musician I found it very amusing and it gave me the basis of a sketch . A method I still use sometimes today if I get the old writers block . But mostly now I wake up in the night with an idea and have to get up and write .

Re: a solution to a problem maybe (3 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Cheers guys , Phill I agree getting the right key is important .and that is why for my solo and new stuff I've tuned down a whole step which means for the band stuff that Paul sings I can either swap guitars or just capo up 2 frets and reposition my solos . . However due to my ongoing health issues I dont have a lot of spare time to rearange and rehearse many of the current songs in the set before we start our first set of gigs in april . I think I might check with some of my freinds in other bands who may have a vocal processer I can try before buying one .

Topic: a solution to a problem maybe (3 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
As you regulars know Ive had a lot of throat issues over the years ,and it isnt getting a lot better .
So Ive taken a decision to tune down a full step and see how that works ,however it does mean either persuading the band to do the same or rewriting the songs in a lower key which will take a bit of time for me to do .Alturnatively one of these pitch correction pedals might help but Im unsure if it will work well enough . I dont really want to spend a lot on a pedal with out trying first or getting some advice .
My acoustic solo set sounds fine tuned down .
for the band songs that Paul sings in normal tuning I can capo up 2 frets with no problem .
Is it selfish for me to expect the others to relearn a set which has been good for us in recent years
Any thoughts ??

It was a great song before ,its better now . I think Jim has made use of one othe AI tools now available ,and by doing this really enhances his songs .Jim is the biggest critic of his own voice but by using a song generator creates a demo from jims original lyrics which is almost as good as a live band could .
I know this is happening in Nashville at the moment as my freind George who is a good session player based in Nashville discussed this with me when we met up over xmas .
Its a new tool we all now can use .

Re: Original chord sequences (5 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Hi Phil
I swapped couple of things round in the chorus and took a different aproach to the verse and I think it might work ok now .Before it had ended up like playing sweet home alabama with different words .
I do a quick recording and see if it works
Cheers

This morning I wrote some lyrics for a song and quickley worked out a chord sequence which fitted well ,I wasn't aware I 'd acidently use most of the chord sequence of another popular song until I'd played it through a few times and thought that sounds familiar .So its back to the drawing board for a re think before I publish , Just goes to show how easy it is to get caught up in copy write issues .
Now had it been a traditional type of song or a parody then I would have let it go but its so obvious I cant let it go .
