ark im beginning to think i can fix a rainy day,i tore my synth apart cleaned all the dust and i discovered a little wire that had come loose so i soddered it and lordy lord its works! i had a bigger hassel getting it back together but after a few hours i fineley had a working keyboard and i started recording a track on my digital studio the changes come auful quick and im not a very good keyboard player so i wound up punching in and out and doing a lot of optimizing (deleting previous tracks on the same track)to conserve disk space i still have to overlay some 3 part harmony in a few places mostley aahs no words when its finished i'll email you to let you know im uploading right now its has no vidio i have to hunt for what im looking for.Ifound out somthing after googling roland juno 106 they are very much in demand and used by a lot of known groups because of there versitility and sound so i think i'll hang on to this one see ya

why cant you use a guitar tuner? but the other way requires a good ear and you still have to get a starting pitch 440 is standard a if you can locate that on a piano you tune your fifth string A to that and press down the 6th string on the 5th fret and tune it to the fifth string press down on the 5th string 5th fret and tune the 4th string to it press down on the 4th string 5th fret and tune the 3rd string to it press down on the 3rd string 4thfret and tune the 2nd string to it press down on the 2nd string 5th fret and tune the 1st string to it BUY A TUNER!!!!!make your life easier,i dont even want to suggest harmonic tunning ive confused you enough

hi ark your right about me burying my head in the tech manuals of audacity its the only way to evauluate and i was sad to have to remove it but i learned a great deal so it wasn't a wasted effort i still would recomend it its great for anyone on a short budget i am working with a vidio editing program now and my head is again stuck in the tech manuals but i managed to compose a new song its very up tempo classical sounding cant tell you how many times i had to redo tracks cause i missed a note and one bad note is not exceptable so back at it i am laying the keyboard tracks and then i will make a vidio with the sound track

Hi Russ
So that’s where you’ve  been with your head inside the Audacity manual smile .
I think the Audacity program never set out to replace a more sophisticated digital recorder. Your right in saying that if you have a good track recorder then you gain nothing from Audacity when recording your songs.
As you say it’s free which is a great point in it’s favour and great way to record anything going through your sound card and convert it into a mp3file. For someone who is just starting out or has not got the money to spend on digital recorder it’s one way of be able to record your songs and to some extent fiddle around with them.
Ultimately your right Russ it’s what you put into a recording that counts in the end.
Ark

I am giving my viewpoint on the audacity audio editor. first it is a free program and with no strings attached you can download a users manual that is in a zipped folder, once opened it reveals a compleat menu of how to tutorials that guide you through the necessary steps to interface your recording gear and if you dont have a good digital recorder it can do just about all you can want but i found out that my digital recorder has all and more of the editing features offered in the audacity program and i came to the conclusion audacity was not needed i wish i could have used the features it was cool looking at the sound graphs and reluctently i removed the program but this was my view and choice the audacity program may work for you but keep in mind it will not make a silk purse out of a sows ass if your tracks are not good redo them audacity will not help

lieven you have all the post recording adjustments (mixing) built in but i would concider adding a all purpose recording mike for vocals and accustic tracks i use a sure sm 58 it costs around 65 0r 75 american. for rythem i use a aleses sr-16 its easy to use and has lots of pre recorded drum tracks and fills with the option of recording manually like i did on the song "sloppy joes" on myspace after recording you can with your boss br 600 pan, adjust eq,add reverb, delay(echo)and the effects include making your guitar a bass plus a multitude of guitar and vocal effects built in all you need to do is explore the possibilities you already have i have a boss br 8 and your recorder is every bit as good or better plus i think you can burn a cd right on your 600 i have a seperate tascam cd-rw700 for that so check out what you can already do before complicating matters with software

mine was an accustic "stella" i painted it all kinds of colors and my mother would only let me sing in the basement but she showed me the first chords she played a 4 string martin i think, so i was into r&r when "rock around the clock"started a whole new era and learned all the elvis songs then buddy holly my first electric was a 1 pickup silvertone and my first good guitar was a candy apple vintage tele (my friend Sam Mc cue painted it)it was stolen from a club date the band played we were booked for the weekend and i was heartbroken but i went out and bought another. never leave your guitar a hard lesson i learned in my youth
