Hi Pix,
I hope you do not mind but I have added a link to your this Songbook for reference in the Strumming patterns video 'sticky' in Acoustic.
Roger
Hi Ken,
I have to disagree with you on this one about Ab. Ab is easily played with a barred F on the 4th fret and unlike B where you have to go up to the 7th using this shape. The barred F shape is not so bad but B played with the barre on the second fret really is a pig and I more often than not play a 4 string xx4442 B if I am unable to get to the 7th.
By the way I have stubby fingers too.
Roger
Brilliant, a raw, developing talent. Well done to your little one.
Roger
Great one Pix,
I bet you never realised just what you were letting yourself in for when you suggested starting a Begginner's Songbook but looking at this it will be a great reference tool for them. The next time you are in the Algarve I will buy you a pint (or two).
Roger
Hi Phill,
Maybe it is a depressing subject and, because of other influences, you are thinking of your own mortality, but is a great song. Unusually, when I played along with your recording, I did so three times on the trot when once is my norm.
As Kenny has already stated, and I also know from our conversations how close you and Ann are, you can come through this together. So I too have just opened a beer and will join you and Kenny. Cheers.
Roger
Thanks for the link to this vid. I am sure it was good.

Happy Easter everyone. My prayers are especially directed towards Helena and her family at this time.
Roger
Hi Jeff,
Interesting train of thought there and not a bad song to boot
. Now what about a recording?
Roger
Hi Stu and welcome to Chordie,
You might try double clicking on the speaker icon on your task bar and checking that it is routing the sound through your new device. Other than that I cannot help I'm afraid.
Roger
Great poem Phill, you have captured the nocturnal events brilliantly.
Roger
If you read my post: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=9253 that should help too.
Roger
Instead of screaming as that will get you nowhere, try looking 13 threads down the list in this section to: http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7047

Hi Mark,
It has been a while but the wait was worth it. Great song from you and excellent that you have been asked to perform it. Be sure to let us know how it goes.
Roger
Hi Alan,
I like this one. Strangely enough for me I played it all the way through, normaly I will only play a song as far as the writer has bothered to put the chords in. I played it on my 12 string with a fairly upbeat tempo which seemed to work for me. I liked the chord sequence and hope that you have plans to record it sometime soon. Thank you.
Roger
Good song Guitarrock, I hope you will have a recording ready soon.
Roger
Hi Kenny,
Thanks, the Chordie Clan Bash is certainly an exciting idea and being around for the next 58 years will give me plenty of chance to win the Euromillions lottery to ensure that it happens
.
Sorry Phill, you have completely got the 'wrong end of the stick' here. Far from being morose it was meant to lighten and uplift. If you read my earlier messages you will see that I plan to being around for a long time to come and there are no hidden meanings in the lyrics. It is simply meant to say that death is not a thing to be tearful about but is the start of a new chapter in one's existence, a new adventure into unknown territory....
Sorry if you see it this way, it means that I did not get it right so it is back to the drawing board
.
Roger
I certainly agree with Ken about the hot toddy although I also add the juice of a freshly squeezed lemon to mine and omit the cinnamon stick.
As an aside, for an upset stomach, my favourite and best remedy is a measure of Port added to a measure of Brandy. It works every time but please do not drive after taking one.
Roger
Hi John and welcome to Chordie,
Jerome is right that you are never too old to learn to play the guitar but for me your question does raise an interesting point. Chordie has always been primarily for stringed instruments but I do know that there are several Members that play keyboard, so two questions:
1. Are there Members that play any other non-stringed instruments that use Chordie?
2. How many players of non-stringed instruments would like to have a seperate section for their queries and discussions?
If there is enough interest then we could ask Per if he would open a new 'Non-Stringed Instrument' section.
Roger
Of course the other thing that I forgot about earlier is that it is very easy to print out any song on Chordie so you can have a hard copy in front of you when you visit YouTube. This way you have no need to keep swapping pages.
Roger
I have and use 'Band-In-A-Box'. It is a very user friendly programme and the latest versions use actual drum and instrument recordings instead of synthesised ones and thousand of styles to choose from. It is great for learning to play in strict tempo and how to play with others when there are other musicians around to play with.
Roger
Hello Murre300 and welcome to Chordie. you will find that all the Members of Chordie are kind helpfull people and that Per, the founder of the site, is always willing to listen to helpful suggestions to improve the site. However there are ways of asking and I would suggest that yours is not really the way. Many years ago I learnt that asking politely gets far better results than rudely demanding.
Chordie is a search engine, it hosts no songs apart from the original ones written by Members in the Songwriting section and finds chords, lyrics and tabs from other sites on the Internet. The songs are sorted and indexed and presented cleverly to appear to be hosted here. With the thousands of songs and number of videos available, linking and embedding a video of the song would probably be an extemely difficult, if not impossible task. However if you have the skills to write a programme that would do what you want I suggest that you write privately to Per at admin@chordie with your ideas.
Roger
Hi Toney and Ark,
Thanks for the positive comments.
I have decided it will be played at my funeral but as I plan on living to be 120 years old that is some time off, so you have another 58 years of putting up with me
.
Roger
HI Ark,
A great recording stirring up wonderful visions. Congratulations on it getting placed 11th on MyStage.
Roger
Hi DevilCat and welcome to Chordie,
I assume that you are playing D using your index, middle and ring fingers. Some of my students find it easier to use the index finger to barre the first three (G, B and e) strings on the second fret and then use the middle finger to play the second (B) string on the third fret. This way you are only having to postion two fingers.
At then end of the day though it is only through repetition that changes become easy and of course that means practice, practice and then even more practice. What you are doing with practice is training your muscles and tendons in your fingers to automatically lock into a certain configuration to form each chord, there is no easy shortcut to this I'm afraid.
Good luck,
Roger
