Well I played my first fender vg I was at a party saturday with several of my musician friends from at least four differn't bands and we were in the recording studio of the home of the drummer we were trying out his new senshouser (correct me on the spelling) and the bass player eric pulled out this strad it was a fender vg with a blond fretboard and mahogony body so he hands it to me and says "russ give it a rip" as I was pickin a few chords and jammin on some riffs he started changing the settings to show me all the features I was impressed it had an arsenal of onboard effects including dagdag, and open chord tunnings and it was offered for $1000.00 I checked later on ebay and the least expensive was around $1500'00 but I balked on buying not because i didnt like it but in all honesty my guitar sounds and plays better but at least I got to play the vg ive heard so much about next i am going to give the gibson robotic a dance or two and see what all the fuss is about,my good friend owns a music store and he's going to let me crank a few licks out on one of his les paul robotics I'll let you all know how it went later ![]()

Re: Fastest playing guitar? (17 replies, posted in Electric)
I have to agree with roger ive seen videos of guitar players play setups where the strings were raised over the fretboard and there fingers were fat compared to mine and they ripped solos on guitars that you would not think of as fast action or built for speed and ease of play in some cases it could have been the only guitar this musician ever owned or could afford so they made due with what they had and overcame by sheer determination and god given talent

you dont need tabs theres only 4 chords to the whole song Am G F E thats it you can capo and play it on the 1st 2nd or 3rd frets but the chords remain the same the late john phillips composed it and he sang it with the mamas and the pappas eccept for F all the chords are 1st posistion open chords

Re: Elecs quit working!!! (7 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
It could be a ground wire at the input jack or a lead wire theres only 2 wires that connect to the input jack you can unscrew the locking nut where the input jack is and check that both the lead and grounds are soddered and secured to there contacts if that is the problem sodder them if not its elsewhere, and I would return it and let a pro take care of it

Re: Percussion instruments used with Looping (17 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
This looks like it would take a little time (like anything new) to feel comfortable useing lt seems to have a lot of potential but the price tag is a little steep or maybe ive been out of the loop for a while (pun intended) I only seen one video and no chord changes were involved i enjoyed the music and the musician played very well I would like to see videos with expanded chord structures a (full progression) it would seem you would have to somehow stack each loop into three or more separate loops to make a progression of loops into a song i wonder if this can be done in a live performance im only speculating so you will have to be a little patient i know zip about this so my questions are all on a basic level

I only meant can you play a progression or are you limited to one chord to build on
Thanks arkady, glad you liked the information.
Russell,
I have no earthly idea what you said/or were asking in your last post. Sorry bro.

Re: Percussion instruments used with Looping (17 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I understand a little more and the looping is fine but can you play a progression as a loop and add the percussion in much the same way or is looping constrained to one chord it was a very nice video by the way I would like to add I have looping on my br-8 that is identical to what the video shows and I can add notes or voices even rhythm but I have never found a use for them until now so thanks for the looksee

Are all these percussion effects in the effects pedal? or do you actually play them physically and pack them into your case?
Russell_Harding wrote:southpaw if you only play the preset patterns i have to agree with you but with my aleses I dont use the presets I play the pads manualy and keep the human element, all the pads sound like a drum kit and you can adjust each pad for tone, duration, decay and it shows up for the gig all the time
No pad on a machine can produce the sound, texture, and authenticity of real drums, be it a kit or percussion instruments. Drum machines need to go away, far, far, away from musicians who care about the quality of their product.
I have to admit though I do like one sound a drum machine makes. The sound of it hitting concrete after 130' drop from the top of a building.(Muse Hall @ Radford University) I actually did this and recorded the sound upon impact. Very cool sounds!!! Why all this hatred for drum machines you may ask? One of my best friends growing up was a drummer, as was his father, and his father too. Melodies enter the human body through the ears, drums and percussion enter the human body through the chest, going directly to the soul. No substitutes for this musician...............

I'll wait till they have a guitar audio demo it sounds intriguing like you say and i wonder what this new technology is going to cost it seems all the new tech like robotic guitars and now this is going to fetch a hansome price ticket that will be out of reach for mere mortals so I will wait to see or hear the demo for guitars before passing judgment ![]()

Lieven thrive on rejection! I do who cares if its a hit or miss its yours thats all that counts there isn't a songwriter past or present who hasn't written a few stinkers but there remembered for the one good one, hell I envy the one hit wonders thats one more then I have I write songs all the time post them upload them whatever and I aint running to the bank with a deposit from the sales so all that really counts is its yours no one can take that from you, people are people they will seldom give there honest appraisal out of fear of being labeled a butt thats human nature if you enjoy writting it dont matter if its good so keep on writting you never know the song you think had the least potential turns out to be the song everyone loves ite a crazy bussiness so do it for yourself expect the worse hope for the best and theres no room for dissapointment ![]()

Re: Ring finger (3 replies, posted in Acoustic)
zurf instead of putting your 3rd finger on the 1st string (open G) try putting it ont the 2nd string 3rd fret its called a country G and you have the opiton of muting the 1st or as I sometimes do place my 3rd finger between the 2nd and the 1st and play them both
For some reason, my ring finger doesn't like to fret. Oh, I can make it work, but especially on a G chord where it's all the way at the edge of the neck, it likes to slip around rather than just go straight down and hold the string in place.
I try real hard to keep my back straight and my thumb on the side of the neck near the bottom (not directly at the bottom like I do with my bass), but I keep having the ring finger sliding around.
Any suggestions?
- Zurf

the recording was distorted and the strumming uneven take geoaguiars advise I have the "audascity" program its free and it will do wonders for your recording and when you sound better to yourself it can only boost your confidence and improve your playing but to be realistic you need to keep up with lessons thats the fastest way to improve slow and steady and even tho the truth hurts sometimes in the long run its better not to bull#&$t yourself ![]()
ROFL!
Thank you!!! I know it was awful.... I'm so trying over here... what was the most horrid part; the production, or the playing? (Yes, I realize it's like trying to choose which level of hell is the worst). I'm old, and am realistic about my 6 mos old playing ability....
Thanks again!
