I have noticed the number of posts on here have dropped significantly. I guess everyone is busy, has other more important stuff going on, or for some reason is unable to post anymore. Whatever the case........ I miss the videos by Russell and the great songs by Mojo, the unbelievably cool insights of Strummerboy Bill, all the great songs and posts of our New Zealand Family - the golden voice of Jan, and the greatest stories and historical insights of Peatle ), JJJ's interesting stories, Beamer's open heart songs and Metalized everything
,Zurf's wildlife adventures and musical journey's, Badeye's always good stuff, Roger G's terrific perspectives, UJB and BGD, Easybeat and Dirty Ed, NEO, CTECH, Doug, Jets60 and of course Mekidsmom (Amy). My apologies if (and I know I must have) I have left someone out !
Happy Holiday season to everyone and may your GREY SATURDAY's turn sunny !

After a couple of months of not working, I've got a new job which has been challenging to try and find that work/life balance again. Add to that one of my old positions asked me to do some after hours work as well, making it more of a challenge. So unfortunately guitar playing has dropped a bit into the background, I'm trying to get some regular practice in, and occasional come to the forums, but haven't found the chance to reply too much.
However the 2nd job is almost done, work and life seem to be balancing out, the weathers turning nice and the forecast is good ... I should be here more often! ![]()

I'll try that Scott and see what happens
You mean #scott
It puzzles me how some vids on you tube get so many views there's an awful lot of awful performances that get a lot of views.Somebody please explain the secret of getting more views I'd be grateful to know.
I'm curious too ... my video of putting together a toy with my son has over eight thousand views, yet my guitar playing, I'm lucky to get 50! So ... following ![]()

It was so warm in Perth today, we went for a boatride ...
90 second video overview - although we had the smaller, faster boat ...
Enjoy!
Richard
No worries, glad it helped; while you're in the chat corner, you may as well let us know a little bit about yourself, what level of guitar you are at, etc.

You need to format it in a mono-spaced font so that it spaces correctly (use the "courier" font, which is installed on every modern OS that I know of).
The names at the top are the names of the chords (in your example C, G Aminor, F), then read the portion below, which looks like the six strings on your guitar, from left to right, as a bar of music.
So the first bar is a 'C', play it with four beats, the first two are only the A, D and G strings, the third beat is five strings, and the fourth beat is back to three strings ...
Hope that helps.
Welcome to the forums!

Hi, welcome, check your login session is still active, I've seen them time out occasionally.

I haven't built one myself, but I'm on a luthiers page on FB, and the guys on there are usually impressed with the quality/price point for PitBull guitars: https://www.pitbullguitars.com/
Not sure how that fairs against places in the US, but with the currently lower Australian economy, could be a reasonable deal for you...

Hey TF, wishing you the best until you're back, and I echo the sentiments of the others, hope it's soon.
Cheers for all your contributions, you'll be missed
Richard
My fretless was giving some terrible 60 cycle hum into the mix.
You might need a grounding strap:
Clip goes on the bridge, strap goes on you ...

Nicely done once again, Neo ... you've got a good touch on this one. I was thinking of a bit of irony if this were to be in a set list for performing. You could follow this with "Love Will Keep Us Together" by the Captain & Tenille ... might be good for a chuckle.
Thanks - strangely I was thinking the same thing (not sure if you can hear me laughing at the intro) - as I was thinking "I'm smiling at the intro, but the song is a sad song about breaking up". When I read the Wiki page, the singer/songwriter (Ian Curtis) wrote it about his marriage breakup, which lead to his suicide later.
Nice playing Richard
You look so relaxed and comfortable playing that song. It sounds terrific!
Well done sir !
Thanks - it was kind of an extension of the Bizarre Love Triangle song I did earlier, as the second groups was formed from the members of the first group, less their lead singer: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joy_Division

You can also fix the issue right here if you have saved the song into your songbook.
The edit function lets you right into the raw song code.
That's good information that I didn't know; thanks!!!

Richard
One of two things - either the song isn't correctly formatted on the source site (it needs to be in ChordPro format), or the Chordie parser hits some sort of error and can't recover from it.
Normally it's the first one; I download the files I want to play and reformat them to the way I like them, and it also gives me the opportunity to save the files to my iPad and have them with me where ever I travel.

I wouldn't call you nuts, I'd call you magnanimous.

I too never had heard that song - you played it very well. I had the exact same thoughts TF did about the headset Mics!
You are a master of many different styles of music for sure.
Well done, sir!Jim
Thanks! I thought it was an 80's classic! ![]()
(But looking at the charts again, it got to 98 of the US Billboard top 100 songs)
Glad to introduce new (old) music to you!
Cheers
Richard
Well done, Neo ... a song I'd never heard before, and you certainly did it justice. Do I see dual microphones in your video? If so, I'm curious to know what you've rigged up and why. Nice cover, Neo ... always enjoy your work.
Thanks - when in my teenage years I got a lot into the techno-pop stuff, which was most of it around that era ![]()
No two microphones - I'd used the Rode as a lavalier style mic, on my shirt collar, etc, but wasn't getting the pickup from the voice, so i ordered an 'el cheapo' brand from China with the headset style microphone. Then I ripped out that mic and put my Rode in it's place, which is mostly what I use these days. I still need to hit it with some hot glue, as it keeps popping out of where the old mic used to sit, but it's just one mic for everything. This video is an older one between when I received the headset and before I pulled the mic, so the Rode is off to the side (the internal mic wasn't plugged in after the one trial, in which it's quality was 'as expected').

Also found this version, by the singer from New Order: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxp5ogeJ54Q

Sounds good; I was waiting for some bass and/or drums to bring the lower end in, that would have been the icing on the cake!!!
Cheers
Richard
Looks like you had a lot of fun doing that one, Neo ... a great cover of this "Hollies" classic.
Thanks - it was fun, I did it on the 12 string first, but it sounded better on the 6 ....
