A great write Phill, it has a very ethereal, almost spooky feel to it. Great imagery.

Re: WHO HAS THE MOST SONGS POSTED OR WRITTEN (7 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Hi DC, my tally of written songs is 428. I think that if I had tried to post them all, the Mods would have gone crazy trying to correct my ''hiccups''. My ''cyber skills'' are sorely and very sadly close to non existent. Now if only some big record company needed some lyrics, you and I might be in business. It's good to dream I suppose. Power to your pen, and keep up the great songs that you write.

Nice write C34, deep and insightful into so-called civilized man's very uncivilized ways. Good one.

Re: t:title"how long" 300 (17 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Well done DC, maybe we should form a ''300'' club. I wrote my first song in October 2008, and yesterday wrote song number 423. It is called ''Banking Morons'', written out of pure frustration at trying to get my bank to e-mail something to me. Which they still have not done. It is a song that Ozzy Osbourne would be proud to sing, it is definitely NOT a ''family song'', except for the Osbournes' that is. I was going to stop on 350, but then inspiration hit, and well, !! here we are at 423. now i'm wondering if 500 might be some type of record - let's give it a bash. Power to your pen.

DC, Ark, Dolly, MKM, thanks very much for the comments. I do sing it aloud to myself as i play it, but, i'm afraid I would put you off music for a loooong time, if any of you had to hear it. Maybe i could hook up on Skype with someone who sings properly, and then I could play the guitar so as to show the tempo. Just a thought. But, thankx again.

bensonp, if you enjoy ''mowing'', you are more that welcome to come over here, we are on 7 hectares. J'll supply the beer, and watch as you enjoy my kidney killing tractor, sans power steering as well. Gotta keep the weeds and grass short as this summer we've had 2 cobra snakes take up residence in our rockery. Not the safest of tenants for us or our dogs. Now that they ''live with us'' i've had to go on a major clean up, burning dead wood and sawing up all sorts of dead trees and junk. I came very close to catching one of them a while back and last Monday one of them decided to visit, thank goodness i had the sliding door closed, as
he was only a few feet away watching me read a book. He also managed to escape. Never a dull moment.

Thankx Ken, your comments are mucho appreciato. I wrote 3 songs today all on the same topic, but the others name a certain religion, so circumspection rules, and in order not to offend, I have posted only this one. But, thankx again -- David - aka Buvvy

Re: Led Zep track the favourite rock song? (26 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Stairway, maybe, it is definitely an all time classic, but, as for the Who, after the My Generation album, IMO they became far too pretentious with their so-called ''rock opera'' stuff. My personal all time fav is House of the Rising Sun, by the Animals, not as complex as Stairway, but, my fav none the less.
DC, you are 100% correct, there will always, for ever and a day, only be ONE king of rock, Elvis the Pelvis. All the others will always be pretenders to the throne. OK, Buddy Holly can be the first prince, and Doro Pesch, the first princess.

Have you investigated Tissue Salts, they work amazingly for a whole range of health problems, safe for kids and animals too. Also work very quickly and effectively for arthritis. There is a book by Margaret Roberts who goes into the ins and outs very comprehensively. Hope that this can help you.

Re: I guess this is progress (12 replies, posted in Acoustic)
tonyespo, be grateful for even half a compliment. I cannot sing, and SWAMBO, consistently reminds me of the fact, PLUS, she does not like my guitar playing. When i put music to my songs, she flatly refuses to sing with me, with the result that i have to sing to be able to work chords out, so ---- ''brick and a hard place''. Last Saturday we were at a braai, ''bbq, in UK or USA speak'', and i took an acoustic along and a book of my songs, on the first chord i was told again ''don't sing'', ok, so how are the people going to follow a song that they have never heard before. ''It doesn't matter, just don't sing.'' The upshot of this was that i sang at the top of my lungs, hopelessly flat and out of tune and key, and nobody cared, everyone was dancing and having a fine old time. I even had one of the kids who writes his own rap songs jamming with me, he was rapping at a million words a minute, and then SWAMBO told me that i was playing too loud, so --- sometimes you just don't win. On the upside, i once overheard her telling a friend how nice something was that she had heard me composing, using and electric and a wah wah pedal. So, - if a compliment comes your way, hug it and frame it.

Hi Kap54, absolutely brilliant, you have hit the nail on the head. There are many, many esoteric ''things'' out there that we in our closeted world have no true understanding of. Also, as you said, the song has a very ''Floydie'' feel to it. well done again.

Mine change all the time, but these 5 are right up there;
House of the Rising Sun - The Animals
Sympathy for the Devil - Rolling Stones
Child in Time - Deep Purple
Senor - Bob Dylan
On the Turning Away - Pink Floyd
Frijid Pink also did a killer version of House of the Rising Sun, make that number five and a half.

Dolly killer flies, swimmers beware, very strange. Mind you, I would rather have to look out for killer flies than the many finned creatures that we have. Over here we are still melting in the heat, and not too far north, the rest of the country is washing away from incessant rain, while only 3 hours away from us, a huge area of the country is in the worst drought in a 100 years. I definitely think that Mother Nature is telling us something. If only the politico's would wake up and listen.

Re: What's your favorite book??? (59 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Hi Zurf, Dolly and Pix. Thanks for the comments. The book should be out in about month or so from now. It is still in the editing stage, which takes time, which is frustrating as patience isn't my strongest attribute. The artist has started on the illustrations, so it is all coming together. I have a nephew in London, UK, and a niece in Vancouver, Canada, who are in the IT business, so I am planning to see what they can do for me in the line of internet marketing and sales.
