Hi BBDGus
Some people  are definetly born with shall we say a talent for music and with practice achieve great things.
Others don't it's a fact.
That doesn't mean those people don't improve with practice and at what rate depends on alot of factors and not always related to the degree of talent in the person.
The love of what you are doing is a large factor in improving but not the only one.

Hi Rooster3
Nice love song. Very pretty and says all the right words.
One thing a your girl might appreciate is a little personlisation in the song if you could drop her name in there somewhere smile

Hi
GSE nice song as far as it goes. Lyrics and chords fine.
But as Russ says the interperation of the song is in the recording.
One thing if you don't mind saying so in a lyric based forum it's best to include all the lyrics you had in mind for the song.
Anyway Good job
Ark

I find lighter gauge strings are harder to keep tuned easier to bend etc kinder on the fingers and mostly a thinner tone.
I play medium Martins on the electro acoustic good allrounder nothing fancy reasonable cheap so change them fairly regularly.
A good tone which holds fairly well and keeps in tune who could ask for more...... smile

Great video.
Straight Acoustic over v Electro. no competition in the versatility you can make the electro sound just about anything you want it to and as unique as you want as the video shows.
Straight Acoustic great when used in the right context depends on the song etc.

Another nice western themed song from you.
Congratulations on finally getting your songs up on a website. I've had a listen and for a first try not bad at all.
One thing I would say to you is to try and make sure your on your own when you are recording. smile
I usually go into a room and close the door. Extraneous noises are the bane of DIY recordings.
Anyway keep em coming.
Well done

Hi liam or Will?
I've had a look and play of your song as far as it goes. First attempt and it's not bad all.
All the right senitments for a love song nicely personalised at the end not a bad thing when writing a love song to a girl friend (Though the Name can be easily changed if required lol) don't take offence.
Like all songs lyrics and chords are only part of the picture. Melody is something you can only show when the song is recorded. I see you have said you intend to record soon. I for one would like to hear how you intend the melody to go.
A little thing the D/G chord is as you show the finger placements is a D4 chord.
Well Done

Thanks for the techy bit. I've used them but never understood how  a string can produce two or more notes.
Great explaination.

Hi oscar88
Welcome to Chordie.
My Tips for you is to first to like what you are doing with guitar. If you don't then you won't progress.
Don't over reach your abilities this can cause frustration.
Don't compare yourself to other people who are learning (which we all are)
Learn a simple song that you like.
and of course practice alot and try not to get to down hearted if things don't come together as quickly as you expected.
It goes with the territory.

Thanks. I have always felt self conscious when singing.
I'm not sure what Dad would have made of it.:)
"Tears in Heaven" is a great but sad number. I play it myself there's just something about the song.

Hi Tim0473
I've played around with natural or false harmonics for a while now.
They give a nice harp like sound.
This guy gives an explaination of them on Utube.

I just caught this before I logged off.
Another fine piece of poetry in a song.
I'm sure your Girlie friend would have been pleased to have this song dedicated to her memory.

I always thought that one of the early Hawkwind albums "In search of space" was good for the time.
I remember the Blind Faith's album abit risqué for the time holding a model plane wasn't she.
and Jimi Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland" say no more. smile

Thanks for your kind comment.
I like playing Elton Johns "My Song" on the guitar. It's a great song with a lovely melody I can well understand you getting upset at what the memories the song brings back to you.

This is an excellent song with a real "Country" feel to it.
Well done.
That Chopro does get's abit frustrating sometimes.
Here's a site where you try out your song before you log on to chordie http://webchord.sourceforge.net/
Converts it into Chopro format to see how it looks.
Anyway it's something more to play around with  smile

Hi,
I originally posted this song sometime last year.
I have revamped the song musically keeping  most of the original lyrics.
The song is for my Father who passed away sometime ago he was a true patriot and loved England.
I have made an attempt at singing on this one not one of my great strengths.
Anyway it can be listen to on Myspace page http://www.myspace.com/onlyarkady
Thanks

Regards to all
