I haven't done a lot lately, as I've been pretty busy with other stuff, but I'm getting a better feel for how to work with Audacity.  Once I have some more time, maybe over Christmas time, I'll work on some more recordings.

I love my Dano 12-string dearly, but it just can't handle the kind distortion and stuff I'm looking for.  I need a guitar that is versatile.  So after many months of looking around online and researching, as well as checking out a few guitar stores, I've picked out two Ibanez RG's that I'm looking at.  The only real difference is that one has a flamed top.  Here's pics of them.

That's a Squier, right? Yeah, I've looked at those.  I played my friend's American Strat, though, and didn't like it much.  I also played a guy's Ibanez RG (a $400 guitar) and absolutely loved it, so that's why I'm going with the RG.

Ok so I want to try and learn In Time by Mark Collie (from the punisher movie).  It states that I have to tune to D-A-D-G-A-D.  Which I assume I can do with my electronic tuner.  However, a friend of mine who plays told me not to do it yet.  I have only been playing for a few months now and I pretty much have all the basic chords down.  I want to play this song more for fun than anything (as will most songs...lol).  Also, while searching the net on how to tune to the above, I thought I came across chords for a guitar tuned to the above.  So the other question I have if the Open G chord has the same fingering as the the G chord for the above alternate tuning?  Thanks in advanced for your help

No...you change the tuning, you change the notes, therefore you have to finger them differently.  This is a great tuning to use, I play a couple acoustic tunes using it.  Good luck!

So I assume you need fairly powerful pickups and a good amount of distortion to do these? So they probably wouldn't work out to well on a guitar with lipsticks, right?

Two amazing acoustic pieces by two amazing players

I'm trying to sell my purple sparkley Danelectro Hodad 12-string, yeah, an electric 12-string.  The guitar that I'm going to buy, though, is an Ibanez RG with a fixed bridge, two EMG-designed humbuckers, in black.  If only my Dano would sell...

I thought that it might be due to feedback...thanks!

When someone is riffing with lots of distortion and they make that squealing sound with the string, how is that accomplished? Is this a pick harmonic?

I'm signed up to play at the school talent show in December.  I'm going to be playing Eric Johnson's Song for George, one of the coolest acoustic pieces I know.  It's a little difficult, but I've learned it pretty well.  I've played a few times in front of my church, but never in front of a huge group of people.  I'm not really too nervous about it, as I've played in front of people before, but what's the best way to prepare myself for it so that I sound my best? I've been practicing every day, and I have the song memorized almost perfectly.  Just looking for some advice from "seasoned" players.

I love the sound of new strings....however they're a pain to get in tune once you first put them on.  I change around twice a year, and I play for several hours every day.  I just use some GHS Fast Fret string cleaner every so often, and they sound bright and new again.  I'd probably change acoustic strings more often than electrics though...

06 ... how much do those run you ?

About $5.99 a pack, depending where you buy them.

I've heard that the Elixirs are good...but I've also heard that the g-strings breaks a lot (topdown seems to have experienced this).  I'm on my third set of strings since I started playing acoustic about two years ago and I think I'll continue to use the Martin Eric Clapton Signatures in a light gauge.  I don't know how long it's been since I put them on, but they still play and sound amazing.

OK.  So how will a pair of passive humbuckers on the Ibanez work compared to the lipstick single coils on my Dano?  Hotter output I'd hope, right?

EMG has multiple lines of pickups. The popular ones, the ones they are known for, are active. The 81 and 85 are active, use a battery and are widely used for teh metalz. They also have a variety of, cheaper, passive pickups that sound like typical budget models.

OK, but what exactly is the difference here?

The Ibanez RG I'm looking at buying says that it has EMG-designed passive humbuckers, "for a massive, cutting tone".  I saw some EMG humbuckers in a catalog, I think they were the 81 and 85, and they were labled active.  What's the difference here?

Does anyone have any experience selling items on Craigslist? I just listed my guitar for sale in several different areas, and am just wondering what to expect when dealing with them.

RG2EX1.  It has two EMG-designed humbuckers and a fixed bridge.  I really dig the black one.  I think that this guitar will open up my tonal possibilities and allow me a full distortion range, where the lipsticks on my Danelectro are a bit wimpy.

Hey guys thanks but I completely changed my mind here, I'm going to sell my Danelectro and buy an Ibanez RG instead smile

Hi, welcome to Chordie.  If you can't find them on Chordie, try azlyrics.com? Maybe? I don't know, I've heard of it.

I know it's not brand new, but I've only recently listened to some of the stuff on AC/DC's new album, Black Ice.  Like I told my friend, they sound the same now as they did back in the 80's, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.  Man, Angus Young knows how to take like two chords and make a sweet riff (i.e. Skies On Fire).  Anyway, what does everyone else think here?

For an amp, I'd highly recommend a Line 6 Spider 3.  For a guitar, I'd go with an ESP or Ibanez, as they have some nice models that are fairly inexpensive.
