Hi Everyone,

I have received the "Picks around the World" package from GuitarPix, so the next one to email me gets it next. I took a few, added even more of assorted picks, lots of nice ones to pick from. I just wanted to thank Topdown again for such a great idea!

Hi Paul,

It sounds to me like you already have the making of a song in your second post on this topic, when you spoke of "the wifes given up on ever singing along, the kids don't come around and the dog would rather be outside, its bad"  Just make up your own!

Naolslager, it's ok, Justinguitar has been mentioned many many times, a great place to start.

Well I know it's not many compared to some on here, but this is my 300th post on Chordie, I hope this makes me a regular now. I was just basically starting out with the guitar when I first signed on, and have learned so much since being here from all the help. I'm not much help to others yet, but I try to do what I can. I'm looking forward to the day when I can give good solid sound advice to people who need it like most of you have done for me, so I wanted to give a heartfelt thanks to you all, it's been very much appreciated!

Topdown, has become a great addition to the Moderaters, he's on top of everything. He seems to always find what someone needs or helps out in so many areas, were all lucky to have him as well as all the other Moderaters.

I agree with Zurf on the made for TV movie, Lonesome dove was the best I've seen, a great western, with several great actors who have honed their craft.

Well, I took it into the shop, had the neck adjusted, new strings, and cleaned up, tuning pegs screws tighten and now it plays and looks like a new one. One thing that was wrong was the strings were wrapped around to many times, and they were very old. I'm taking it back to my Nephew tomorrow, I'm sure he'll be happy. I hope I have got him started off on the right foot, He's very smart, if he picks it up quickly, maybe he'll windup teaching me a few things. Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for all the advice, such good helpful friends here, thank you all!

Hi Everyone,

I've tried all suggestions, still can't get it in tune, tomorrow, I'm taking it into the shop, the guitar, isn't mine, it's my nephew's, but I told him I'd tune it for him, so since I can't I'm gonna have it re-strung and checked out, and suprise him with it, he's a good young man, "30" years old, he had some bad luck recently, and deserves a break. and he's just now picking up the guitar for the first time, and I want it right for him. I'm gonna give him a capo a chord book to help get him started. I've gave him several sites that will help him, including "Chordie of course", and will help him as much as I can. So I'l let everyone know what comes of the guitar, thanks again everyone for all your help, advice and suggestions.

One person who is in my opinion the 2'nd best songwriter that ever lived is Jackson Browne, he can play a slow song that is so heartfelt that it will stay with you always, then again he has upbeat songs that has the same effect, his lyrics and music are great, heres a couple of examples of a slow one and an upbeat one.

I think the seventies were the best, follwed by the 60's, the 80's sucked, except John Cougar thats when I came to know his music, the ninety's, the only music coming out that I like is country, same with the 00's thats just my opinion though, I'm sure there are exceptions, and like Bensonp said, I'm sure it's mostly an age thing, when you grew up, what you got use to, but I would go so far as to say that some of us olders guys, have heard more music for a longer period of time, and been able to judge music over the passing decades of music. no offense to anyone younger, I think we covered this topic once before though, didn't we? Anyway, I guess I still feel the same way. I just don't feel the bands today, or most singers have as much overall talent as they use to, back when people wrote their own music, played their own music and sang their own music. Again though I'm sure there are exceptions.

The chords don't sound right, it shows on the meter that it's in tune, but it's just simply not, it's not showing it as flat or sharp, I've tuned it right to the mark, but it's still not in tune, I have no problems with this tuner on my other guitars, I don't get it, except to try new strings, and have it looked at, but thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate it.
