I use D'addario EXP's on my acoustics, (they're a bit pricey but they sound the dogs and they last forever), and EB Slinky's on my electrics.

I've got an old Boss ME50 multi effects unit and it's bullet proof. Loaded with effects, I can't fault it.

Without hearing it it's difficult to tell but could you be having a feedback problem? The Line 6 to my knowledge isn't an acoustic amp so may very well feedback when playing an acoustic through it, that's pretty much the only reason they make acoustic amps!

Here's a tab with the chords. As for strum pattern can I suggest you play what feels right to you, Cat Stevens played this finger style.

If there was a "Like" button I'd have just given it a big hit.

I think Tommy is the greatest player on the planet, we've got tickets to see him in March and I can't wait!

Oooh we had this a littlewhile ago. For me it'd be an original 1952 Telecaster as my electric as that's where it all really started.

For my acoustic I'll take a Lowden F35C Co in red Cocobolo and Redwood as my acoustic. Just a wonderful tone and beautiful in its simplicity with an eyewatering price!

JJJ, cats are very territorial and if the dogs new your cat will be REALLY put out. It's a good call to put the food upstairs. With the cat being old it may not feel able to take on the dog to show it who's boss, this is really important for a cat.

Where does your cat go upstairs? Cats always need a place where they feel safe, this might under a bed or pretty much anywhere, put its food and water there and make a fuss of the cat, let it know that its still loved and hope for the best. Cats are pretty adaptable but if the dogs new, rest assured the cat will be major league unhappy.

We had a cat that had nervous problems, he was overgrooming and making himself bald in places, The vet gave him the equivalent of prozac! It may sound bizarre but it worked wonders. Animals get mental problems as well as physical ones and at the moment your cat is probably feeling usurped, you'll have see what happens but definately ask your vet for advice.

I'm with Phil on this, I've got both but hardly ever play my Strat, my Telecaster is my go to elctric guitar.

Funnily enough I too had a Les Paul that I sold, bought on a whim and I couldn't get on with the neck.

And at about £400 for a half decent ticket at the O2 in London they can stick it. We're off to see Muse next Friday at the same venue and they're charging £60 a ticket, I saw the Stones at Wembley stadium about 15 years ago, they were superb and tickets were reasonably priced but this time the Stones are taking the piss.

Hi Pete

I use a Boss eBand. It comes loaded with hundreds of looped backing tracks in just about every genre you can think of so it makes a great practice tool. It loaded with Boss effects too. You can link it up to your computer as well and jam along to MP3's as well. You can record all of this onto the eBands hard drive. Being Boss it's pretty much bullet proof, here's a YouTube demo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpvZwxbZUuc

I have to say the opening ceremony made me proud to be British. Absolutely superb! The excitement here in the UK is at fever pitch, it's all anybody's talking about and its all over the TV. Fantastic!

Leo Fender started out repairing radio`s. Fender was always a musical instrument company. Never a radio repair co.

Sorry Jx3, Fender was originally a radio repair company, I guess you could argue that it was music related!

The company began as Fender's Radio Service in late 1938 in Fullerton, California, USA. As a qualified electronics technician, Leo Fender had been asked to repair not only radios, but phonograph players, home audio amplifiers, public address systems and musical instrument amplifiers. (At the time, most of these were just variations on a few simple vacuum-tube circuits.) All designs were based on research developed and released to the public domain by Western Electric in the '30s, and used vacuum tubes for amplification. The business also sidelined in carrying records for sale and the rental of self-designed-and-built PA systems. Leo became intrigued by design flaws in current musical instrument amplifiers, and he began custom-building a few amplifiers based on his own designs or modifications to designs.

I have a Fishman Loudbox Mini, for years I used a Marshall AS100D, a good amp but blown into the weeds by the little Fishman. Fantastic quality, a great tone and light as a feather. I use an SM58 mic with it and it's a cracker.

I had a Stagg a few years ago and for the money they're a good guitar. You can sort the action, I seem to remember there are shims under the bridge.
