Welcome to Chordie, Terry! I think you've come to the right place. That's a lovely looking guitar, btw, would like to see more! I'm not on Chordie as often as I used to be, but that's mostly due to Facebook, so I may well look you up there.
I'm in the UK, 50ish and also sadly lacking in hair up top. Also an average strummer with a liking for Norman guitars - hence the name...
Welcome to Miss Lily, too! Why not start a new thread & tell us all a bit about you?
Cheers, all!

Great thread Toots - reminds me of Toney's epic gigging tales that had me logging on every day for the next update! A nice little job you have there & you write about it with great style & wit.  I've never had catfish, but I like the sound of the food at your workplace...
Cheers!

I have a cheapie Makala soprano uke, with the usual poor quality starter strings that look like black plastic! Proper uke strings seem quite expensive, so just wondered if it was possible to use (non-wound) classical guitar strings? If so, which ones would go where, if you get my drift?! Not intially less expensive I suppose, but you could maybe get 2 uke strings from 1 guitar string? And basic nylon strings are quite cheap! Hmm - just had another thought, - fishing line! I have lots of that laying around. Will research further...

Still hereabouts, but spending more time on the dreaded Facebook, these days!

Did something to the ring finger of my right hand the other day, & had a searing pain across my hand & up my wrist. Now if I put any weight on this finger or move it the wrong way I get the pain again. Was worried this might be CTS, but having looked up the symptoms, I don't think so. Relieved - CTS sounds bad, especially for guitarists! My finger problem doesn't seem to affect me when playing guitar, fortunately. Will try to avoid straining this finger again & see if it clears up. Left hand is also a bit stiff in the mornings - think that's just age...!

Nervous? I can't usually even get through the door! Just try & slide in/out without having to talk to anyone...

Great story, Amy! Would just love to be at one of those parties! It must be the "English reserve", but (around here) just the sight of a guitar is enough to break up a party in double quick time. Even my very talented guitar playing friends need mucho lubrication and arm-twisting. Asking someone to come & jam is a bit like admitting you're an amateur dentist in need of willing victims.
I suppose the grass is always greener...

A cabin on a lake and guitars! Also very jealous!! Great photos, too - some fine shirts, there! Hey, I have a loud shirt and a bald head, I think I would fit in well...

Doug - do you know what make/model of pickup your friend had fitted to his Taylor? Am looking for something similar myself.
Cheers!

Toney, you will be missed! Thanks for all your great advice & the brilliant "Gigs" thread. Glad to see that you are now active on Facebook.
Hope that oil slick stays away from your shores!
Cheers & Best Wishes,
Paul.

What I really need is a pick with a built in homing device, so I don't lose the damn things. Having said that, I don't use picks much, so when I do they feel a bit insecure in my fingers. To help a little with this I always take a craft knife to my picks & scratch the grip part on both sides with a cross-hatch sort of pattern.
Amy has just reminded me that I must try a thumb pick again some time - I have one, but it doesn't fit well!
Cheers all!

In short, no! Have kind of lost interest in the last few years, mainly, I suppose because there's next to nothing worth catching round here any more ! I may have another try at catching sea bass on plugs/lures - I know it's possible, but have been trying for a few years with no success.
There are a couple of good trout fisheries around here, but they are pretty expensive. I have caught so many trout over the years that this has lost it's thrill too. It's a bit sad too, that most of these trout are stocked, then caught within a few days. I think I would get more of a buzz from showing someone how to fly-fish for trout, in fact the offer is always open to locals, or anyone passing through...

Have always been interested in photography, and somehow found myself getting into repairing cameras & other photographic equipment. I used to run a shop doing repairs & some secondhand retail but this closed a few years back, due to cameras becoming so dirt cheap - digital being the final nail. I work from home now, but there's not much to be found these days!

Have just got a new (secondhand) Norman ST68 acoustic, & I love the sound of it. Would like to add a pickup, but want to keep the sound as "acoustic" as possible, so I think I am looking for a piezo-type device? So, I would appreciate any advice or recommendations on makes or models of pickups. I don't mind fitting one of the under saddle types, if these are generally considered better!
Cheers!
Photos of new (s/h) guitar to follow!

Condolences to you and your family. I had a lovely, lovely mother-in-law who died of cancer at only 51 years. Life just ain't fair, sometimes.
