Hi, so I guess it is Beth and not Hannah now then, but welcome back. You were always a level headed and knowledgable teenager and I have missed your posts.

Did you know that as 'last_rebel' you made 882 posts and 'lilwing' 40 so if you had kept your original name you would be well on the way to becoming an Honoured Member.

I kope you plan to stay around a while,

Roger

Hi Friedel and welcome to Chordie,

After you have selected 'print' from the song page and before you actually print the song look at the top right of the page. There you will see the three letter 'A's' to alter the size of the print and the print command tag but to the left of these is a white box that says "grids right", click on the down arrow beside this and you will see you can select "grids left" or "no grids". The "grids" are the chord shapes so select "no grids" and then print.

Hi Jim and welcome to the forum,

The place to add songs to Chordie is in 'Resourses': http://www.chordie.com/addurl.php But they must be in ChoPro format.

Your wish is my command lol.

I have banned and deleted the the scumbag which has removed all his 17 posts in one go.

Please, and this is for everyone, do not reply to spam posts and give them the satisfaction of knowing that someone has read their garbage. Just report it so it is flagged for us Moderators to see as soon as we log on and we can deal with it quickly.

For those who do not know on the bottom right of the post is a tag labelled 'Report', just click on there and enter a brief reason for the report and the section Moderator will sort it out as soon as he/she signs in.

Thank you,

Roger

Hi Kenny,

Not only do us occasional performers get nerves, so do the famous and regular performers. Not only is it normal, the increased adrenaline helps us be sharp and perform at our best. I usually find that once I get started the nerves disappear and the buzz after I have finished more than makes up for the butterflies and all trips to the loo before going on stage.

Remember that if the folks at the song circle liked your stuff then a bigger audience simple means there are more there to show their appreciation.

Break a leg.

Roger

PS Don't try and sing to everyone, pick out one person and sing to her.

Hi Carol and welcome to Chordie,

Further to Deadstrings reply, if you are a regular uke player then go into the Resourses. At the bottom of the page you will see 'Change settings (instrument/tuning)' and in there you can permanently change your instrument settings so every song will show your uke chords.

Apparently they are available with nylon strings too but this one has steel ones and has a very different sound to a uke. I will try and record something with it so you can hear for yourselves.

I assume you mean the 4 string 'F' XX3211 which is relatively easy, but even so, many beginners find it difficult to flatten the first finger over two strings and will often play an 'Fmaj7' XX3210.

It creates even more problems playing the full barred 'F' 133211 so I normally introduce a 5 string 'F' x33211 first.

This repair might be of interest to some of you.

I had a guitar brought into the shop with several strings buzzing. The neck was straight and the bridge was rather high but on further inspection I found that someone had been lowering the action by filing down the nut - and going too far. I was struggling to find a replacement that would fit but then decided on another plan of action.

I have always been an advocate of guitars with a zero fret as they always have a low action. So I took a piece of fret wire which is a 'T' in profile and I filed of half of the top bar to make it an inverted 'L' shape. I removed the nut and fitted the modified fret between the fretboard and the nut like so:

After lowering the bridge the action all along the fretbord was great and the customer was happy.

This is a CAVAQUINHO (pronounced 'kavakiniu'). Although the back sides and neck are varnished the solid front is not and appears to untreated in any way. It has steel strings and is most commonly tuned D-G-B-D although the ancient Portuguses tuning is D-A-B-E but other tunings are also used.

Aparently in the late 19th century the Portuguese took this instrument to Hawaii and from this the ukelele was born.

I had the same problem this morning and dropped a line to Per. It only occurred when logging in from the home page, logging in from the Forum page was fine. Per has now located and fixed the bug.

Sorry for any inconvenience,

Roger

You cannot but I can, however there is a danger of losing your songbook by doing so.

Write to me privately if you wish to change your username.

Funny thing. Why doesn't the logo just say "guitar tabs, chords and lyrics? And it's not punctuated correctly. There should be another comma after chords.:p

Out of interest I was taught that "guitar chords, tabs and lyrics" is correct and there should be no comma before the "and". Mind you that was a long time ago so can anyone define which is correct (of course it is possible that American and British English are different).

Back to the subject matter. I prefer the blue and I will e-mail you later Pix as I have to go to work now.

My name is rather unusual so I generally find it has not already been taken. Using it saves me having to remember something different and at my age that is a great help lol.

I give this to my students for fun and to help with learning different strumming patterns. Perhaps it will be of use to some of you will to.

The chord and numbers are the down strum strokes and the beats of each bar. The '&'s are the up strum strokes between the beats. First read out aloud what you are about to play and then start by playing it slowly. As the pattern gets fixed in your mind, and right arm, gradually increase the tempo until you are playing it as fast as you can but remember that keeping the pattern right is the main prority. If you make a mistake start again slowly.

Where there is an '&' up stroke immediately before a chord change it is quite acceptable to actually play all open strings as you change chord when playing at a fast tempo.

The 5th set usually causes problems as the chord is strummed down once, held for three beats before the 4th down, the '&' upstroke then the chord change. The last one causes the most problems as there is a change on each line.

I have shown each as 16 bars but usually more are needed to get up to a fast tempo.

Hope it helps,

Roger

And I would almost certainly be looking for a semi acoustic unless anyone can convince me not too!

Hi Monty and welcome to the forum,

In my opinion:-

The shallow body of a semi acoustic will not resonate enough and you will always need an amplifier to get a decent sound and volume.

An electro acoustic gives you the best of both worlds as with it's normal body you can play it unamplified and it will sound terrific and you can plug it in if needed.

An electric, hollow body or semi acoustic is fine if you intend to always operate amplified.

I, for one, look forward to your contribution.
