Hi KIR. I use a capo on the 4/5 frets which plays G in a D shape, the Em/D, Em/Db etc are my way of saying it's an Em chord with a D, Db ETC bass, you probably knew that but it's something I only learned in the last few years...never too old to learn ....right? Lets hope I can learn something really useful before I die lol

Hi Grah.

Thanks for the listen. When I'm writing, I just put in what feels natural and goes well. The Bm gives a little change from the simple chords and melody line. I hope I've explained that right?

That's great mojo, the words and rhymes come together as if they'd always been that way. No time to listen at moment, hopefully later. Nice one

I haven't posted a new song for a while so I thought I'd put this one up. I use a capo on the 4/5 frett.

It's a song about coming to the end and wanting to return to where you were born and bred to await the end.

[song]

{t:Take Me Back Home.}

{st: Phill Williams.}

[G] Take me [C] home. [D] Take me back [G] home.
[Em7] Take me [C] home. [D] Take me back [G] home.

[G] I'm getting tired. [Em7] I'm getting old.
My bones are aching and I'll [G] die alone.
No one cares in this [Em7] big old town.
If they don't push you then they'll [G] gun you down.
Take me [C] home. [D] Take me back [G] home.
[Em7] Take me [C] home. [D] Take me back [G] home.

Long ago when I was your age.
I followed trends and all the craze.
Got to a place where I relaxed.
And all those trends have been and passed.
Take me home. Take me back home.
Take me home. Take me back home.

{soc}

[Bm] Maybe one day when you've [Em] come of age.
[Em/D] You'll [Em/Db] turn a [Em/C] page like [G] me.
[Bm] Maybe one day when you're [Em] old and gray.
[Em/D] You'll [Em/Db] want to [Em/C] stay right [G] here. [Em] Not [G] me.

Take me home. Take me back home.
Take me home. Take me back home.
{eoc}

When I was young I was a fool.
Did crazy things just like you.
Things that seemed so good back then.
I wouldn't want to do again.
Take me home. Take me back home.
Take me home. Take me back home.

Everybody's gonna die some day.
It's up to you where you pass away.
I wanna be where I was born.
That's where my bones belong.
||: Take me home. Take me back home.
Take me home. Take me back home:||

Hi Beestie.

Sorry that I had to edit your poem. I'm sure we all sympathise with your position, but I'm afraid the wording is not acceptable. As has been pointed out there are younger people that frequent the site and we do not wish to give them a bad example.

Your poem is strong and heartfelt. I know you are angry, and rightly so. Please do not spoil things for yourself and others.

i'll always remember towards the end of the 60's going to the local bowling alley on a saturday night, DRINKING coke and (hopefully) pulling birds. the records being played over and over were "america" and "sunshine of your love". i still get flashbacks when they get played on the radio, great times.

RIP George. FYI, he didn't promote just produce, and as the Beatles themselves would say he arranged and guided them into hits and standards.

well you've been welcomed from the far, far watery west, so as a wester from nearer (see the flag?) a big welcome here too. i like that saying "north of 40" well i'm north of 60 and still gigging. if you're into jamming? a lot of our guys have filmed their jams, we'd be chuft to see some of yours.

Hi Curtis. I find your style of singing and the style of the song is quite "olde English" folk (not country or blues) yet your writing has a modern feel in the words of the story, but there's nothing wrong with that.

The only improvement I can see is recording with a band to get some bass and drums and maybe a harmony or two, having said that, it stands as a solo effort.

My voice is quite nasal I think and squeaky too, my answer is to get a good mic and mixer and a ton of effects!

as long as there are poor fools who are prepared to accept the crumbs from the rich man's table there will never be equality. and as long as some numpty puts up parking metres or puts down double yellow lines, there will never be true happiness for the humble motorist that may be needing a pee? or a dozen eggs?

Hi peeps,

yeh just moved Luthers post to it's own thread, thanks Amy for the tutorial cool

TF, everything is beautiful in it's own way, so the song goes, and you too keepitreal, just to say you're not born a poet, Shakespeare wasn't, Wordsworth wasn't , Dylan Thomas wasn't. they worked at it because they had the muse within them. One day we may all get there.  Your poem TF is a reflection of the modern world in which we live and stands as relevant as anything one of the above wrote. I've spent many a night as you describe...minus the forest bit. well done, thanks for sharing.

Hi Luther.

Welcome to Chordie. There are a few niceties that we all must follow when posting a new poem for instance. Main one is that we DO NOT in any circumstance add our poem (regardless of how good it is) onto another member's thread, as you have done. But not to worry, we all make mistakes, you're not the first and you wont be the last, I've made them even the head honcho below god, Mr Guppy, has made a few. And so please, if you add more, and I hope you do and become one of the regular community, please start your own thread in that way you will get more attention to your work. I hope you have read and understood this and in the future start your own thread unless you have a comment to make on another topic.

You may have noticed that I moved your original post to it's own thread.

I've always gone with "start with an easy one" just to settle any nerves. When I saw you were going to jam on the first song I was a little nervous for you, I try to avoid solos and such till I settle down. Still, glad you got through it unscathed and you're looking forward to doing it again....shame about the Sony, I would have taped the first gig just to see the weak points not for public display....unless it was really good, which is why you never see me live on you-tube  lol
