There was rudness in the reply .... I hate snobbery of people who know one or two more chords than someone else and think they are cool . Anyone that has any fight left in them should be fighting against these copyright laws which which are stopping the use of the internet for educational purposes..
soheyman... for example .... yeh right ... you wait until nothing is available . Because that is the way it is going . Then comments like yours will look very stupid .
Every day... bit by bit ... the freedom we have on the net is being took away .....

I would also like to say that I have been sticking with this same problem for over a year before commenting .

" As Chordie is a free site we are all free to go elsewhere. " A rather rude answer from a moderator to someone who has been a longtime supporter of chordie and was only asking a question .

Having been a member for quite a few years I am now finding this site very hard to use . So many songs are now unavailable and most most of the time clicking on my songbooks are a waste of time - it is so slow or not working . . I am now looking elswhere for stuff .What exactly is the problem ?

Enjoy what freedoms we have for information while we can .... its about to get worse . The future looks bleak for many sites that offer free information . The clause used in the bill covers everything . Disturbing use of power by British parliament equal to that of china .

i have played about 20 different 12 strings and only owned one .... some are easier to play than others and dont sound like what you want ... dont buy a 12 string just because it is a 12 string .... really take time to get around it ..... play it for 30 minutes at least before you buy it - not 5 or 10 ... thats the only words of wisdom i can offer .... and thats from someone who has wasted loads of money over the years on rubbish instruments ....

i would also add that it aint always the fancy name on the top that gives the sound you are after .. whether 12 string or 6 string or any instrument ... you have a certain sound in your head and know the feel you want from an instrument .... if it dont feel or sound exactly how you want .... be prepared to walk away and wait till you get what you want ....

well done chordie and all who sail in her ... all our freedoms are trying to be took away from the net .. not just chordie .. it is one site after the other after the other ... 20 years from now we will be talking to our grandchildren of how free it used to be and they wont believe us ... ( the british government promises free broadband access to everyone in the country in the future - but guess what ? its going to be censored ) ...... all of us have to fight what is going to happen and not just only on one site ....

freedom of the net is under attack by many different companys and governments .. they are looking to ban all file sharing of any kind , except for your own stuff . hardly a day goes by that i dont hear on the news some artist or other moaning about the use we have . the one that made me most angry is a famous songwriter who has made a comeback and earning a good living again solely because he was featured on you tube so often .. but the songwriter was moaning he didnt get enough royalties ... but he is earning more now the guy got his fame back ... they got to realise its advertising for them as well ... we are losing our freedom on the internet .

it aint just "the blues" ... you got to feel that the reason you are singing or playing any song no matter what it is - is for the right reason ... it can be a simple ditty or a complex song or blues ... but to try just do the song for the songs sake is wrong ... start looking at songs you enjoy ... otherwise it will never work for you .

The commercials during the SuperBowl are what lure many tune in to watch. Here's a link that shows what much of the hoopla is about. Many of the advertisments are very lame but are few are pretty funny and clever.

you are kidding right ? if the commercials are one of the most interesting things about the superbowl or any other event  then its about time to look in the mirror and take a good look at why you are doing this to yourself ...

the only goodside is the internet which has given us some hope ....till that is taken away ... the british government announced this week that they want us all to have broadband but it will be censored ( how convenient ) ... by that i mean that any sites that they deem giving you free stuff then your address will be forwarded to the authorities for possible prosecution ... so much for free stuff ... enjoy what we got for now .

if you think there any bands at all that are not manufactered that you know about - then how come you know about them worldwide ? ... even the beatles were "manufactured" .. hence the change form leathers into "beatlesuits"... get used to it ... and make your own mind up .... even iggy popp is doing insurance comercials now ... what a complete letdown .

Soccer in the U.S is primarily for the kids too small, or not athletic enough to play football. A typical soccer game at any in  major university will draw maybe 500 people on a good day. A typical football game at the same major university will draw in excess of 50,000 people. In your house(homes) across the pond soccer may reign supreme, but over here on this side of the water, (for the vast majority)  it's downright boring and has minimal monetary appeal. Are you ready for some football? I dang sure am come tomorrow at 6:28PM est!!!!! It's all relative as Russell says, one mans' eternal joy is another mans' worst nightmare.

the most thing that irks most lovers of "real" football is how the term "football" is taken to mean a game of rugby - but wearing protective suits ... unlike the real game which also stemmed from over here ... we find americans often mispell english terms and a lot of them  still think we all still wear bowler hats and carry umbrellas .. but we still know a game where people hold a ball and run with it for 90% of a game shouldnt really be called football ...lol

Oh yeah, nothing rivals the excitement of 0-0 tie...(95% of the final scores of soccer games)  hahaha

I guess it's all relative.

So lets have a world series where we are going to be the winner ... lol ... dont matter that the rest of the world arent allowed to compete ( because of two things - a complete lack of interest and a boring game ).. but what the heck ... we are yanks we are the best ( so why is obhama apologising  ? ) - enjoy it.

got to admit ... that is amazing ....

F is hard ( for me that is - and I been at it for 30 years - you have to stretch the arm and wrist to get get it right ... with a capo on up a few frets the strain gets easier  ... though all barred chords need that little bit extra thought and pressure ... if you struggle with a bar chord you aint the only one ... but when you get it - its worth the struggle .

buying songs off the net is a bit of a rip off really.
Like you said topdown, nothing to hold so the songs should be much much cheaper to download. Maybe they are? I dont know. I bought the Who's Faces dances on Itunes because I only have it on vinyl and I could not find it in any music shop. It cost £7 or thereabouts. I bet if a shop did have it, it would have been the same price or less.

And it looks like I will be buying a Brian McNeill cd from  itunes too

Ken

nothing to hold and nothing to save for the future either.. even though at the time none of us thought that when we bought those original albums ( or singles ) on vinyl that they would be worth anything ... today its the record companys trying to catch up with us all realising there is a lot of stuff out their for free and they try every trick in the book - even selling you stuff you can lose in a bad download .

I was always against effects etc ... until I saw a few guys using them as individuals and come to the conclusion that that using them can be an art in itself done by the right people .... to see one guy actually use them in a performance can be great ... the main one that changed my mind was seeing a guy do "baba o rielly" originally by the who... it transformed my way of thinking - it made me realise there is a way of being exceptionally clever with effects and not just bluffingyour way through ... I dont know if this is what your thinking Russell ?

this was done by some kind of looping device where he played the first bit then gradually added other bits and built it up and then deleted bits and finished with other bits etc .. but all done live ....
